The Game Boy Camera!

When Game Boy became a gigantic hit for Nintendo at the end of the 80s, they of course tried to milk more money out of parents and nerds by putting out accessories for it including the Game Boy Camera! When you privileged young tricks are easily taking clear and crisp dick and hole pics to send to a possible Grindr hook-up, just remember the oldies who paved the way and struggled taking grainy, black and white dick pics on a Game Boy Camera.

Nintendo released the Game Boy Camera in the U.S. in 1998, almost ten years after Game Boy’s debut. The GBC broke the Guinness World Record in 1999 for being the world’s smallest digital camera (that record has obviously been broken since). The GBC was the grandfather of the iPhone and all those filters out there, because it had MIND-BLOWING technological features like a self-timer, time-lapse and panorama options, and effects like mirrored, posterize, and 4×4. If your friend had a GBC, you could link their picture and your picture up using the Hot-Spot feature. And you could print out pictures using the Game Boy Printer, or show them on your TV (no word how many people died of embarrassment after accidentally showing their grainy dick pics on the family TV).

One commercial for the GBC also claimed that it cured bullying, turned into a miracle-making cherub who could make your crush fall desperately in love with you, and instantly zapped the boredom out of you and made your life instantly better. It wasn’t just a shitty digital camera, it changed LIVES!

Despite the GBC being a bully tamer and coochie magnet, it was killed in 2002. But the GBC will forever live on, partly thanks to the cover of Neil Young’s 2000 album Silver & Gold, which was shot by his daughter on a Game Boy Camera.

Has an iPhone camera been used to shoot the cover of a Neil Young album? I think not (if one has, don’t tell me, just let me believe)!
