The coffee cup that is now my new favorite Game of Thrones character!

As I’ve said before on this here blog, I am the only living thing on earth who has never watched an episode of the Dollar Tree version of Dragon’s Lair, and probably never will. But because the world is filled to the top with nerds who can’t stop creaming at the mouth and fingers about everything GoT, I can’t escape talk about it. And for once, I’m happy for that, because I learned about my absolute favorite moment in the history of GoT (unless, I missed hearing about a moment where Jason Momoa bumps bare nipples with Michiel Huisman.)

During a scene where Andre the Giant gave Medieval Vincent Chase a facial, the white-wigged dragon mama je’e watched as a coffee cup was in front of her. So either Starbucks has really existed for forever and there really is one everywhere, or someone forgot to snatch that shit when the director yelled “action” on the set of whatever Medieval Times they filmed this in:

Instead of saying “20/20 vision,” optometrists should now describe perfect vision as “spot the coffee cup in a dark ass Game of Thrones scene vision.”

Honestly, they probably put that coffee cup there on purpose, because they knew it would get their little show that nobody watches some attention and become a meme. And it did. But whoever left that pumpkin spice latte on the table didn’t get it from Starbucks. GoT’s art director tells TMZ that my new favorite character isn’t Starbucks-made.

Hauke Richter, ‘GoT’ Art Director for the past 5 seasons, tells TMZ … the notorious cup is NOT from Starbucks, but rather a local coffee shop in Banbridge, Northern Ireland near where they filmed.

Richter says despite the hoopla and theories about the cup, he’s certain it was just an accident. He says similar mistakes — like Vikings or Indians wearing wristwatches — happen on TV and in movies all the time … they’re just not as high-profile as ‘Thrones.’

He adds … “We are usually so diligent that this does not happen. The shoot was very hard and demanding and it is likely that after a very tiring ep 3 shoot, this was simply overlooked by an exhausted crew.”

They probably would’ve seen that coffee cup if they turned on a fucking light! With that being said, I cannot wait to root for Coffee Cup for Outstanding Guest Actor or Actress (I don’t know that coffee cup’s gender) in a Drama at the next Emmys!
