Gina Rodriquez, also known as the actress we only know as “Jane The Virgin” and daughter of a dark-skinned daddy, has gotten hitched to her ripped ass boyfriend of two years Joe LoCicero a couple of days ago on May 4. And even though she got married on May 4th (International Star Wars Day) and Chewbacca just died, she did not have a Star Wars themed wedding. Rude and wrong.
According to People:
Her on-screen baby daddy, Justin Baldoni, sang as she walked down the aisle. For the ceremony, Rodriguez stunned in the Pronovias Ribelia gown, a mermaid dress with spaghetti straps and a draped neckline.
Rodriguez, 34, and LoCicero, 32, met in 2016 when he played a stripper on Jane the Virgin and they started dating soon after. They got engaged in summer 2018 and confirmed the news in August.
Before getting married, Gina talked to Elle and preached about the importance of getting your ho years in before you become a Sadie, Sadie married lady.
Rodriguez recently opened up to Elle about the “wild phase of her dating life” wedding planning and some important life lessons she learned in her 20s.
“I was told by my sister at a very young age, your twenties are all about dating. Don’t get married in your twenties. Date everyone, date every gender, just date like crazy and enjoy yourself. It was definitely something that I paid attention to,” she told the magazine. “Part of me is really happy I did that, but also happy that wild phase is done. Because I did…crazy things.”
Such sage advice. Your ho years aren’t going to ho themselves. It’s up to you to put in the work. Your 20s are about ho’ing around. You don’t want to be the old lady at the old age home with no freak stories. If we’ve learned anything from Blanche from The Golden Girls, it’s that old sluts are the best sluts with the best stories.
Gina went on to say that her mother-in-law did most of the planning. She would have done a courthouse wedding, but they’re families on an extravaganza.
Rodriguez called wedding planning “so easy” mostly because her mother-in-law has been such a huge help.
“I would happily marry Joe today in the courthouse, but we belong to a big Italian family and a big Puerto Rican family. That was not going to happen,” she shared. “We’re doing the thing for our family, and we hope they’re happy. That’s all that matters to me, that everybody’s happy.”
Congrats to Gina Rodriguez for ho’ing it up, getting a hot husband, and then making his mother plan her wedding. My hat is offically off to Gina Rodriquez. Whoever she may be!
