Charlize Theron Told A French TV Host To Keep His Lips To Himself
Charlize Theron has found herself in the middle of a cultural firestorm once again when she called out a French TV presenter for getting way too familiar with her translator on air. Charlize recently appeared on what I have to assume is France’s version of The Family Feud, TPMP (Touche pas à mon poste, or, Don’t Touch My Post! translated), which is hosted by someone I have to assume is France’s version of Richard Dawson, Cyril Hanouna. Charlize was there with her Long Shot costar Seth Rogen and was moved to comment when Cyril gave her translator Nadia a kiss on the cheek after getting “bossy” with her about where to stand during the segment. Sacre bleu!
From the start, you can tell Charlize was not feeling Cyril, not one little bit. It’s almost as if she already knew about his reputation as a sexist, homophobic creton who once got into serious trouble when he facilitated a woman getting sexually assaulted on his show. Or maybe she just didn’t like his vibe. In either case, here’s what it looks like when Charlize Theron hates you.
I think we all know what happens next. The interaction received mixed reviews with some cheering Charlize for calling Cyril out and giving a master class on consent, and others calling her an uptight American who doesn’t understand French culture.
@CharlizeAfrica congratulations! Now all France are hating you. Open your mind. #TPMP

@CharlizeAfrica a kiss on the cheek is not a sexual agression in our country. Could you please stop acting like your culture is the only one valid. That’s kind of Racist. #TPMP

Many questioned why Charlize and Seth were on TPMP in the first place, because of Cyril’s reputation.
@CharlizeAfrica You should have done a background check before appearing in #TPMP, a show that has a horrid reputation in France. It has been called out for sexism, homophobia and much more for years now.

Dear @CharlizeAfrica Theron. There are a few awesome tv shows on French tv. How come someone decided that #tpmp and Cyril Hanouna would be the perfect place for you to go. They are vulgar, sexist and homophobic. I was sad to notice you were sent there.

Me, I’m solidly on team Do Whatever It Takes To Never Have Charlize Theron Look At Me Like That, regardless of the occasion. She and Seth will be appearing on Howard Stern today and I hope she brings that same energy. Unless Wendy Williams was right and Howard’s so Hollywood now that he’s on team DWITTNHCTLAMLT too.
