Fan Bingbing Made Her First Public Appearance Since Her Tax Scandal
Fan Bingbing is a changed woman. She’s done her time and paid her dues and now she’s ready to step out on the town and live her best life. I’m guessing, because she has stepped out for the first real time since she got out of lockup for her tax-evading ways.
Fan Bingbing has had a whirlwind past year-ish. Back in August 2018, people noticed that she was missing from the public scene for a few weeks. Maybe she was on a retreat? Maybe she was doing that celeb thing where you get some plastic surgery work done and then vanish for months so when you return you’ve fully healed? Or maybe she was in prison? There were rumors that homegirl was banned from acting for tax evasion. She was accused of using “yin yang” contracts to finesse the Chinese government, one contract would be reported to the tac authorities and another, higher-paid contract would just sit in her bank account.
The next month reports were coming out that Fan Bingbing was maybe in full-on jail for her scheming ways. There was a message that Fan was being held but then it was mysteriously erased because the Chinese government does not play. She later admitted that she had scammed the government and apologized for it but we still didn’t see her walking freely down to Whole Foods for organic water.
She was eventually released from her holding facility/not-technically-jail and said she would definitely pay back the $129 million of fines she and her companies got from the government, of which Fan was personally responsible for $70 million.
Then, earlier this month we were told that Fan’s financial drama over in China means nothing here in the U.S. of A–she was still going to be in the female action-thriller 355 with Jessica Chastian, Lupita Nyong’o, Marion Cotillard and other famous women. Well she’s back again!
Fan Bingbing made an appearance at the IQIYI Ninth Anniversary Gala in Beijing.
I hope that she bought all that stuff first. If you lent that to her you need to check the tags when you get it back. You know she will get a duplicate made cheap and then sell the original at just under market value. Get those De Beers diamonds checked out because she will Ocean’s 8 your ass.
