Hilaria Baldwin Says She’s Most Likely Experiencing A Miscarriage
Page Six is reporting some Grey’s Anatomy-level equally-sad, moving and dramatic news. Hilaria Baldwin announced on her Instagram that she is pregnant with her fifth child and thinks she’s experiencing a miscarriage. Hilaria, who is married to non-anger-management-needing Alec Baldwin with whom she shares four kids, put the news up on her Instagram in an effort to normalize the stigma of miscarriages and let women be more open about their health. Time to sit down for now, Breast Feeding Supermodel.
35-year-old Hilaria posted a picture of herself not doing yoga and holding her stomach on Instagram. But this wasn’t some Tummy Tea bullshit, this was very real. Hilaria let her followers know that she thought she was experiencing a miscarriage.
Hilaria, who co-hosts the Mom Brain podcast, wrote:
“I want to share with you that I am most likely experiencing a miscarriage. I always promised myself that if I were to get pregnant again, I would share the news with you guys pretty early, even if that means suffering a public loss… I have always been so open with you all about my family, fitness, pregnancies…and I don’t want to keep this from you, just because it isn’t as positive and shiny as the rest.”
She explained that she wanted to use her platform to normalize something that happens to women all the time and forces them into a weird do-or-don’t about revealing a pregnancy early on:
“I want to be a part of the effort to normalize miscarriage and remove the stigma from it. There is so much secrecy during the first trimester. This works for some, but I personally find it to be exhausting”
I mean, Teen Mom‘s Jenelle Evans technically did this first, but Hilaria is more poignant about it. She also described exactly what is happening to her and thanked her doctors for their work:
“So, this is what is going on now: the embryo has a heartbeat, but it isn’t strong, and the baby isn’t growing very much. So we wait—and this is hard. So much uncertainty…but the chances are very, very small that this is a viable pregnancy… I have complete confidence that my family and I will get through this, even if the journey is difficult… I am so blessed with my amazing doctor, my dear friends, and my loving family… My husband and my four very healthy babies help me keep it together and have the perspective of how truly beautiful life is, even when it occasionally seems ugly.”
What a rough situation. Some may think that Hilaria is oversharing, but she is sharing something that many women go through. And if you feel sad after reading this post go read about a YouTube family who scarred their child for life over an April Fool’s prank! It’ll cheer you right up.
