Beyoncé Honored Diana Ross With “Happy Birthday”

In case you didn’t know from her nearly two-month premature self “Happy Birthday to ME!” at the Grammy’s, it’s Diana Ross’ 75thbirthday, and she had a major blowout bash in Hollywood that included quite a clusterfuck of a guest list. On the one hand, you had Beyoncé, who has spent most of her career likening herself to the Supreme and seemed like a natural fit to perform. On the other hand, you had Khloe Kardashian because, uh, Diana shops at Marshall’s?

Elle got wind of Beyoncé singing “Happy Birthday” to Diana, and it seems like Diana was ready to snatch the mic from Bey and just do the singing herself:

I don’t know if I’m more in love with Diana’s disco ball dress, the number of wigs under the same roof, or the fact that Diana couldn’t seem less interested in Bey yodeling out a birthday song for her. That could be because Bey played the Diana-inspired character in Dreamgirls. Or maybe it’s just that she would have preferred Jennifer Hudson. Who knows?! One thing we do know is the Bey is all about Diana and has previously said, “She’s an all-around entertainer: a great actor, a good singer, and a beautiful, elegant woman. She’s one of the few singers able to cross over into really good movies.” Lol to “great” acting but only “good” singing.

If Bey’s breathy singing didn’t do it for you, don’t worry! Kardashians were there to try and zap up some of the attention. OK Magazine says people are pissed because Khloe pulled an ex-Countess Luann-ish and showed up in a giant wig a la Diana. At least Khloe had the decency to hold the blackface. Khloe had the disco fever going with her lewk, but some people thought the hair was a mess.

Comments on Khloe’s hair ranged from “so good!” to “She looks stupid.” I mean, they should just all count their blessings. As long as Madonna didn’t show up to ruin Diana’s legacy with one of her craptastic tributes, I think this birthday went off without a hitch!
