An American Figure Skater Is Accused Of Slashing Her South Korean Rival’s Calf On Purpose

That rabbit knows what’s up.

I guess, uh, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Hot off the heels (skates?) of when I, Tonya reminded us how nasty the world of figure skating could really be, 22-year-old American figure skater Mariah Bell (above with the scaredy rabbit) has been accused of attacking her rival, 16-year-old Lim Eun-soo from South Korea, at the Skating Union World Figure Skating Championships in Japan yesterday. Lim’s agency claims Mariah kicked Lim with her skate, cutting the skater’s calf. Someone please contact Allison Janney, as we are going to need her to play Mariah’s mother. Is that bird available, too?

The New York Post says this terror on ice was premeditated, as Lim is Mariah’s bitter rival – and tends to score higher. Lim was allegedly skating near the walls, minding her own damn business, when Mariah came up from behind and struck, according to Lim’s spokesperson:

“Lim was slowly skating on the edge of the rink after completing her turn. Mariah Bell, who was scheduled to rehearse after Lim, suddenly kicked and stabbed Lim’s calf with her skate blades. Mariah Bell didn’t apologize to Lim Eun-soo after the incident and instead continued to rehearse for her routine. We believe this is not a minor situation that can happen in an official rehearsal.”

Dahhhhlling, nobody with the name Mariah should be involved in such a violent moment! Don’t worry, Lim was bandaged up and still beat Mariah, coming in fifth place with a personal high score of 72.91. Mariah came in sixth with 71.26. Both girls have the same coach, Rafael Arutyunyan , and it’s being reported that Mariah has been bullying Lim for months and even popped off in a verbal tirade just before the championship match. BUT WAIT! Adam Rippon claims that Mariah hasn’t been bullying Lim:

Rafael also told a Russian news agency that he believes it was an accident. The Korean Skating Union said that the U.S. figure skating team apologized for what went down. The International Skating Union says they looked at the evidence available, including video, and says there’s no evidence suggesting Mariah did it on purpose. But still, Daisy Ridley (or Hailee Steinfeld), call your agent now and tell them to get the ball rolling on I, Mariah now!
