Kathy Griffin says that she’s still nursing her wounds from when her giggly former TV bestie Anderson Cooper demonstrated that his frosty locks can extend to his heart and dropped her ass. Anderson Cooper labeled Kathy’s 2017 stunt pic of her holding the fake bloody Trump head as “disgusting and completely inappropriate” and there went the CNN NYE co-hosting for Kath.
In an interview with Variety, Kathy talked about Anderson.
“I was devastated. It still hurts. I mean, I really loved him.”
Kathy was so hurt that she admitted that she can’t even joke about it.
“I don’t have a punchline for that one.”
She also talked about how she’s still “blacklisted.”
“I feel a lot of this is because I’m a 58-year-old woman. I’m a successful stand-up comedian, which flies in the face of everything Trump and his folks believe. And I think my impression is they’re just offended by the audacity that I want to continue to work and be successful and I’m a self-made woman.”
Kathy Griffin’s “Laugh Your Head Off” tour from last year was a sold-out hit and she played Carnegie Hall. Unfortunately, she says she’s still radioactive and both Netflix and HBO turned it down for broadcasting. So Kathy hired a film crew and paid for her own tour movie which is premiering at SXSW. She also had a novel idea for an NYE Anderson Cooper replacement.
“I’m very upset that no one picked up my genius idea last year of a New Year’s Eve live with Kathy Griffin and Stormy Daniels. I pitched that to about five different places, and they all laughed during the pitch, and then they would kick it upstairs.”
Forget Stormy. How about NYE with Kathy Griffin and Don Cheadle? Imagine four hours of Kathy haranguing the poor man for being a fake friend and Don spending the entire time trying to convince her that she’s a crazy that he met once for 10 seconds on a plane.
