R. Kelly Is Still In Jail Because He Can’t Afford Bail, And Michael Aventatti Says There’s Another Tape
Robert Sylvester Kelly is broker inna mofo. In fact, Robert is so broke that he’s still sitting in jail today after turning himself in to Chicago police over the weekend and is unable to pay the $100,000 he needs to meet the minimum 10% on the $1 million bail bond that was set for him. If Robert has a pot to piss in, it’s courtesy of the Cook County Jail, and he probably has to share. And his woes don’t end there, despite the fact that his attorney Steve Greenberg entered the laughable plea of “not guilty” on all 10 charges of aggravated sexual assault he’s facing.
According to TMZ, Michael Avenatti has turned over an additional tape that allegedly depicts Robert sexually assaulting the same child that appears in the previous tape Michael turned over to the Cook County State’s Attorney. That one prompted the long overdue grand jury investigation, and the second tape sounds to be even more graphic and repugnant that the first.
Sources familiar with the case tell TMZ … attorney Michael Avenatti will turn over a 55-minute VHS video Monday to Cook County prosecutors. We’re told the video shows R. Kelly having sex with the same 14-year-old girl depicted in the first video Avenatti obtained, which was shot in 1999. This second video was shot around 2000.
I honestly, can’t bring myself to report on the contents as described by TMZ. If you want to read it, you know how links work. I’ll just say if you already have a low opinion of Robert and his alleged crimes, imagine being doubly disgusted. But the good news is, there could be even more charges to follow. According to CNN, in addition to indicating that there is also a third tape, Michael says:
“Over the weekend, we have encountered a number of additional witnesses who we have interviewed, who we are in the process of preparing to meet with prosecutors,” Avenatti said Monday.
“Each of these witnesses describe a decadeslong system of abuse by Mr. Kelly of underage girls.”
As for Robert’s financial situation, the forecast is Fucked Up and Real Shitty. CNN reports that he owes $166,000 in unpaid rent on his Chicago studio and had already been served an eviction notice on January 1, saying he needed to vacate the premises before January 21. I guess he showed them! He also owes $31,000 in past due rent on those two properties he had outside of Atlanta. He’s lucky to have 2 hots and a cot at all, courtesy again, of the Cook County Jail.
But that’s not all. Additionally, Robert owes his ex-wife for years of unpaid child support.
According to court documents reviewed by CNN, Kelly owed more than $169,000 in unpaid child support to his ex-wife as of February 6.
The court ordered Kelly to make a monthly payment of $20,833 on January 8, 2009, but Kelly failed to show up to that hearing, the documents state.
To avoid being held in contempt of court, a judge ordered Kelly to pay $161,663 by March 6.
Apparently Robert doesn’t have to pay the child support before posting bail, if he’s able, which is wildly unfair. But it doesn’t sound like there’s any danger of anybody getting a check from Robert any time soon. You better get in line now while you can, Mr. Greenberg!
