Jay-Z Is Supporting 21 Savage’s Legal Defense Against ICE

It’s hard to remember what caused Cardi B to threaten to get her dog leash out for Tomi Lahren since I’ve been laughing too hard ever since, but it’s some serious shit. 21 Savage was arrested last weekend by ICE agents because he, as a British citizen, had overstayed the length of a visa he used when he came to the U.S. in 2005. He hasn’t been able to see his kids, and now Jay-Z is getting involved to offer to pay for lawyers.

TMZ says Jay has given many thoughts, including how Savage’s arrest is an “absolute travesty” since his U Visa application with the U.S. has been pending for years. The whole arrest may have actually been sparked because he reapplied for the U Visa in 2017 after a visa permit had been pending for four years. There was a background check that revealed the expired visa and, well, we know what happened next. 21 Savage isn’t even a Roc Nation artist, but Jay said, “In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21 deserves to be reunited with his children immediately.” He hired lawyer Alex Spiro to the case, who had this to say:

“We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge … What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for 4 years – not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed.”

21 Savage thinks it’s even more than just overstaying his visa. His newest music slams immigration officials and ICE, so he thinks the Sunday morning arrest was an act of revenge. We’ll know Jay means business if suddenly Beyoncé has a new single, “ICE Is Beautiful,” mysteriously drop on Tidal at midnight to counteract Savage’s song and get him out of the slammer.
