Kristoff St. John Of “Young & The Restless” Has Died At 52

TMZ is reporting a huge heaping of sad this morning: star of the eternally ridiculous yet somehow always elegant Young & The RestlessKristoff St. John was found dead at his home yesterday.

Sources say that when a friend went to check on Kristoff at his San Fernando Valley home, they found his body. Emergency services were called and showed up, but Kristoff was sadly pronounced dead on the scene. Sources say there were no signs of foul play but one person did say that alcohol may have played a part.

52-year-old Kristoff had been going through some shit for a while now, as he and his wife, Mia St. John had been dealing with the suicide of their son, Julian back in 2014. Julian had been in treatment at a mental health facility at the time he took his life. Kristoff and Mia sued the facility for negligence and eventually settled. He and Mia then created the Mia St. John/El Saber es Poder (Knowledge is Power) Foundation dedicated to battling mental illness.

Then in 2017 at the anniversary of Julian’s death, Kristoff got a gun and threatened to commit suicide. He was then placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold by the police.

Mia posted to social media about her husband’s death but it was later deleted, writing:

“THAT HOSPITAL KILLED OUR SON @TheArtofJulian THEN MY HUSBAND @kristoffstjohn1. THATS WHAT HAPPENED! THEY KILLED MY FAMILY”

Kristoff had played Neil Winters on Y&R since 1991, which earned him 9 Daytime Emmy nominations (and 2 wins) and he also won 10 NAACP Image Awards.

As someone who’s watched Young & The Restless with my mother and grandmother my entire life, this is so sad. I literally texted my mother immediately after learning the news to which she replied: “I am so upset. He was a great guy.” And homegirl has a flip phone so that message took effort.

Rest In Peace, Kristoff.
