Bebe Rexha Says Designers Won’t Dress Her For The Grammys Because She’s “Too Big”

Since we’re almost balls deep into awards season, many ladies will be downing the laxative tea and sucking in their guts to put on designer gowns that a panel of frumpy folks will judge and critique the following day. That is unless their dress size comes in around a size 8 or so. Because according to Grammy nominated Bebe Rexha, many designers have pulled out their crosses and grabbed holy water to throw at her since a size 8 in the designer world is blasphemy. But Bebe isn’t just crying into a vat of ice cream over this discrimination, she’s speaking out for all the thick girls everywhere.

Billboard reports that Bebe, who’s nominated in the Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/ Group Performance categories, took to Instagram to echo Leslie Jones’ cries and discuss how disgusted she is with the fat shaming from designers who basically make their bread and butter off of telling women to lay off the bread and butter. Bebe isn’t here for any of it and she made it known that she’s got a few extra pounds on her and there’s nothing wrong with that at all.

“A lot of times artists will go and talk to designers, and they’ll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet, right?” she explained on Monday (Jan. 21). “You go to any big designer. I had my team hit out a lot of designers, and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m ‘too big.’ Literally, I’m ‘too big.'”

I’m not sure why this confused Bebe, because the fashion industry has been doing this shit for years. If you’re not a stick figure built like six o’clock ain’t nobody trying to dress you darlin’. Luckily, Bebe didn’t stop there. She had more words to say and they were all basically middle fingers that shot out of her mouth like a Street Fighter HADOUKEN!

I wish Bebe would name names, and I was going to say that Karl Lagerfeld was one of the designers that rejected her for being 2Fat4Couture, but his office would hang up on her as soon as she said “hello” because they’d hear the “over size 0” in her voice.

I’m sure the offers to dress Bebe are coming in now, but just to be even more of a rebel when she’s on the red carpet every time one of the lady singers is asked “Who are you wearing?” I hope Bebe wrecks every last one of those interviews by grabbing the mic from them and shouting “Who cares! Fuck ’em all!
