A Teen In Utah Did The #BirdBoxChallenge And Crashed A Car

You would think after YouTube douche Jake Paul came under scrutiny for uploading a video of his dumbass doing the ultra dangerous #BirdBoxChallenge last week people would kindly have several seats and find their thrills in other, healthier ways. However, this is 2019 and idiots are everywhere, so let’s jump right into the story of a 17-year-old who didn’t get the memo from Netflix and almost killed someone while driving blindfolded.

Have you ever been to Layton, Utah? If not, be glad you weren’t there last Monday when an unnamed 17-year-old girl and her 16-year-old passenger decided that regular driving with your eyes is boring. They decided to perform a scene out of Bird Box by having the driver pull her beanie down over her eyes while on the highway. You can guess how well that went.

The teenage genius, who was driving the pick-up, careened into oncoming traffic and slammed into the driver side of the white car before finishing her crash dummy test by hitting a light pole as well. Thankfully nobody was seriously injured, yet the teen could be facing some serious charges. Honestly, I say just take her license away for the rest of her life because if she’s this foolish now, it’s not going to get any better. And although the accident took place last Monday, Lt. Travis Lyman of the Layton Police Department claims he didn’t find out the true cause of the crash until Friday, when the tweet was sent out. Lt. Lyman spoke to Fox 13 in Utah about the crash and I think he spoke for everyone by politely saying, “Are people really this stupid?”

“Honestly I’m almost embarrassed to have to say ‘Don’t drive with your eyes covered’ but you know apparently we do have to say that,” Lyman said. “…The stakes are just so high and it’s just such a potentially dangerous thing as it is: to try and do it in that way is inexcusable. It really puts everybody at risk.”

I hope this is the last time we have to hear about this “challenge” because the only real challenge here is seeing if people still have any common sense (SPOILER: they don’t). And I’m sure whenever Bird Box star Sandra Bullock sees these stories she probably thinks to herself, “When I did The Blind Side nobody rushed out to adopt at-risk youths so why the fuck are they doing this?” Sandra I wish I knew because none of it makes any sense to me either.
