The Sun Says That Ariana Grande Was Offered Damehood, But Turned It Down

Last year, a terrorist attacked an Ariana Grande in Manchester, England, and twenty-two innocent people were killed, as well as the suicide bomber. Two weeks after the attack, Ariana put together a benefit concert for the victims’ families. Enter The British Honours Committee.  They’ve apparently been so impressed with her efforts of throwing the concert and visiting injured victims after the attack that they wanted to offer her Dame status to which she kindly replied with “thank u, next.

The Sun reports that Ariana was offered a gong as Dame Commander of the British Empire during the New Year’s Honours which celebrate people who have performed an act of bravery in the United Kingdom. And although Ariana was flattered by their gesture she declined the offer. And no, it wasn’t because they told her she’d have to wrap that mile length ponytail into a tight bun and put on an ugly pantsuit that’ll cover 95% of her body. Mainly, she felt that accepting the honor may look tacky to the victim’s families.

“She explained she was still grieving. So were scores of families.

“She feared some affected might see it as insensitive. The committee wrote to her but she politely said no.”

Another source, close to the singer, added: “She was deeply moved and honoured. She didn’t decline it as such but explained it was not the right time to accept.”

Well check you out, Ari! Being a whole thinking adult in this situation. Because your garden variety famewhore would have jumped at the chance to throw themselves in front of the cameras for an opportunity at Damehood. This shows some real maturity, and it even reflected well with people still grieving.

Charlotte Hodgson, 38, of Bury — whose daughter Olivia Campbell-Hardy, 15, was among 22 killed in the May 2017 blast — hailed the star’s decision. Charlotte said: “It’s a lovely gesture.

She’s right — maybe it is a bit too soon. She’s lovely and would never do anything to hurt any of us.”

I’m glad she’s taken the high road and not accepted the Damehood at this time. Honestly, all this would do is bring her Twitter sparring partner Kanye West out of the woodwork to start another Twitter war with her, but this time it would be about how you shouldn’t wear stilettos and a Genie ponytail to be knighted by the Queen.
