Open Post: Hosted By JLo Singing Her Rival’s Christmas Song
If you caught a movie this weekend, it was either Aquaman, Mary Poppins Returns, or Bumblebee– or you were like me and slothed on the couch watching The Holiday for the 500th time wondering how Kate Winslet was able to buy a last-minute London-Los Angeles flight on a journalist salary. Well, there’s another movie out, and that’s Jennifer Lopez’s Second Act. The movie came in seventh at the box office this weekend with $6.5 million, which is probably JLo’s monthly credit card bill – so she has to draw some eyeballs to this thing!
What better way to remind people that, Mariah Carey be damned, JLo DOES know Mariah AND her music.
JLo strolled into a Miami TV station the other day in what can best be described as a lime green frock from The Handmaid’s Tale 2019 swimsuit collection. She waited until she was within earshot of the camera before warbling, “More than you could ever know…Make my wish come true…all I want for Christmas is youuu.” Hold the phone, please. Jenny from the Block just lobbed some Yule Tide Terror at the Queen of Christmas.

Someone in the hallway asked her what she’s singing, and she gives the greatest acting performance of her career by feigning shock and replying, “Oh, just a little ‘All I Want For Christmas,’” as though those dinner plate-sized sunglasses aren’t doubling as a Teleprompter feeding her the lyrics so she can multi-task movie promotion with some light diva dragging before she finishes her holiday shopping. This is clearly a Christmas present to us queens who cut our catty teeth on this fight.
Of course, Mariah let out the now legendary line, “I don’t know her,” years ago when asked about JLo. Andy Cohen owes those two much of his career since so many episodes of Watch What Happens Live – and his own fight with Kathy Griffin– have revolved around whether Mariah knows JLo. Mimi maintains she doesn’t know her, and JLo insists that she does. Either way, Mariah smashed the Spotify same-day streaming record on Christmas Eve with 10.8 million streams. Somehow, I don’t think she cares if this person she doesn’t know is doing some karaoke to garner some press…dahhling.
