Michelle Williams And Her Fiancé Have Called It Quits

After nearly a nine-month sexless engagement and a reality TV series about said engagement, Michelle Williams has revealed that she and her fiancé Chad Johnson aren’t getting married after all.

Anyone with a little familiarity of Michelle and Chad’s relationship probably could have seen this one coming. 38-year-old Michelle met 40-year-old Chad, a pastor, a spiritual retreat and dated about a year before they got engaged. Immediately after he proposed with a ring he’d been saving for since turning 30 and feeling “lonely“, they revealed that there would be no sex until the wedding night. Can you believe that didn’t end up being the most awkward conversation between the two?

During an episode of their OWN reality show, Chad Loves Michelle, they got into it over race, with her saying he wouldn’t understand the way she communicates because he’s not black. That pissed off Chad, and he allegedly snapped back with a comment about whether she had taken her medication that day (Michelle checked into a facility in July to deal with mental health issues).

People says that Michelle broke the news in an Instagram story posted earlier today (which appears to have been deleted). According to a screenshot grabbed before that happened, she wrote:

“I still remain fearless. I guess I still remain single! Things didn’t work out. The healing that needs to take place is a must! I don’t wanna destroy another relationship. Blessings to him, his family and ministry. #FEARLESS”

Chad hasn’t said anything about their breakup, like why it happened or whether Michelle gave him back the ring he saved for year to buy. Chad Loves Michelle is still airing new episodes, but something tells me there won’t be a second season.

Michelle’s statement makes it sound like it was her fault, and really – she shouldn’t beat herself up over it. Instead, she should focus on the positive. Like the fact that she flawlessly executed one of the most difficult maneuvers in celebrity statements: the rare breakup announcement with a dismount into a new single plug. 10’s across the board for that one!
