The romantic duo that the random celebrity couple generator brought together, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, aka “Prick“, are now married after a four month engagement. Hindu weddings do not play, and there is one day left of their five day celebration, which means a high likelihood that Nick will be bare backing an elephant into the closing ceremony tomorrow. So, Ladies and Gentlemen who are so inclined, you may want to carve out a bit of alone time tomorrow if seeing a Jonas Brother astride a pachyderm is your idea of a good time.
In a completely coincidental turn of events, Vogue has released their first ever digital cover today, featuring the couple and offering up all the details of the five day wedding extravaganza.
The festivities began with a number of traditional pre-celebrations: a puja ceremony (which took place at the bride’s mother’s home earlier in the week), a sangeet (a pre-wedding celebration that includes dances performed by relatives and friends), a mehndi ceremony (a private event in which the bride has traditional henna tattoos applied to her palms and arms), and a haldi ceremony (said to ward off evil and bless the couple). Next, the Christian wedding was held on Saturday, officiated by Jonas’s father. The Hindu ceremony will take place on Sunday. “People will need vacations after this wedding,” Chopra joked.
Papa Jonas was the officiant, but there is no word yet on if the tossing of Nick’s former purity ring was also a part of the ceremony. Nick and Priyanka also released identical Instagram posts to celebrate their wedding.

One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other’s faiths and cultures. And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing. An important part for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi. Once again we made it our own and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed.
One person missing from the wedding lineup was Priyanka’s BFF Duchess Meghan, who luckily has the “too pregnant to travel” excuse to remove her from the five day wedding party. But it’s cool, there were still plenty of celebs in attendance and Elle‘s got it covered. I actually have only heard of Sophie Turner, and of course the other Jonas Brothers, but I’m sure the lack of multiple A listers does not make this marriage any less special than anyone else whose marriage was covered by a spread in Vogue.
According to People, their
faux romance started when they were totally innocently, completely randomly brought together by designer Ralph Lauren at the Met Costume Ball in 2017 after flirting on Twitter for a while and meeting at an afterparty for the Academy Awards the same year. They must’ve had some loose ends to tie up first, because they didn’t officially start dating until six months ago. The bride, groom and both of their families wore Ralph Lauren during the ceremony as a little nod to the man credited with joining them together.
If cringing is part of your Saturday exercise routine, the Vogue digital issue has included Nick’s video for his song “Close“, featuring the hypnotic dance moves of Priyanka as your drunk divorcee aunt. It’s sure to work your face muscles (rolling eyeballs), abs (dry heaving) and offer a total body workout (full body cringes).
Congratulations to Prick! May your whirlwind romance and quickie nuptials lead to a lifetime (or a couple years) of happiness! And more congratulations to the publicists who made this happen!
