Nicole Kidman Talked About Her Scientologist Kids Isabella And Connor Cruise

Say what you will about Nicole Kidman’s taste in men and wigs (and let’s face it, beards), but I don’t think anybody would claim she’s a bad mom. In an interview with the Australian magazine with the delightfully shady title “Who?” (question mark my addition), Nicole finally discussed her relationship with her two eldest children with Tom Cruise; Connor Cruise (23) and Isabella Cruise (25). It is with much shame and consternation that I report I got touched in the feels (which I thought had all turned into a globule of See’s Peanut Brittle, which if you’ve never tried it, is totally worth exchanging for celebrity empathy) reading about Nicole’s thoughts on her children’s decision to go the way of L. Ron Hubbard.

Here’s Nicole’s response to being asked about Connor and Isabella. Who(?) reports:

“I’m very private about all that. I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150 per cent that I would give up my life for my children because it’s what my purpose is.”

Speaking candidly about her two eldest kids – who practice Scientology – Kidman says, “They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them.”

Whether or not a child of Scientology Jesus really ever had a chance of escaping the church (Suri Cruise being the exception of course, her momma Katie Holmes probably saw what happened to Nicole and had a better exit strategy in place as a result) is up for debate. I don’t think Connor and Isabella never had a chance.

Nicole added:

“And I am an example of that tolerance and that’s what I believe – that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I’m open here.”

She continues, “I think that’s so important because if that is taken away from a child, to sever that in any child, in any relationship, in any family – I believe it’s wrong. So that’s our job as a parent, to always offer unconditional love.”

Nicole has got good reason to not blow it all up and join Leah Remini on the Scientology’s Most Wanted list. There may be hope, at least with Isabella, who recently launched BKC (Bella Kidman Cruise), a clothing design company (OK, childish drawings on an $85 t-shirt, bless her heart), and it’s the first time she’s publicly used the Kidman name. Daily Mail seems to think it’s a sign that Bella might be open to reconciliation. Additionally, Bella got married in 2015 and nobody seems to be sure if he’s a Scientologist or not. So maybe there’s a chance there.

Connor, on the other hand, is living large as Scientology Jesus’ Golden Child. In September, New Idea Magazine (no, neither have I) claimed that Connor has been on “lockdown” in Clearwater, Florida because he was doing a little too much partying as a DJ and is being reprogrammed and groomed to follow in his Dad’s footsteps. He now spends his days on the $500,000 boat his dad bought him, leading sport-fishing expeditions.

At any rate, even though Nicole is believed to have already been declared a Suppressive Person long ago, it sounds like she’s still going to tread lightly in hopes of reconciliation, instead of going full Remini and giving us the dirt the world deserves to hear.
