When Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande recently split up I felt terrible..for not caring. The only reason I liked them together was because they looked like the Millennial version of Herman and Lily Munster. In any case, I doubt the two of them will be resurrecting their love anytime soon because now, since Pete has changed his phone number, Ariana can look forward to a bunch of “new phone who dis?” messages when she starts drunk texting him in a few days.
Us Weekly reports that since their split a couple of weeks ago, Pete needs some time to distance himself from Ariana and all of her drama, especially in the wake of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller’s death in September.
“He decided to focus on himself. He’s had the matching tattoo that he got with her changed,” the source explains. Two sources also note that “currently, they are not speaking.”
“This has been a difficult experience for Pete,” the source tells Us. “He’s always been an extremely private person and the Ariana Grande spotlight and social media were a lot of new pressure for him.”
Pete has also spent his time doing what most people who go through bad breakups do; not giving a fuck about work. Recently he cancelled an appearance at Comedy Night at Temple University as well as an appearance at Saint Louis University due to “personal reasons” (which is universal code for “I’m still getting stoned to deal with this shit”) He did however honor his obligation to co-host an event with Judd Apatow on October 20 because he ain’t dumb enough to turn down THAT check.
Even though they consistently portrayed their instant oatmeal love all over social media (because that’s the only way to show the world it’s real), a source says that Pete is well aware that ending their relationship was the best decision for the both of them.
“Pete is still really depressed, but he knows that right now this is the right decision,” a second insider tells Us. “While Pete loves Ariana, he knows she needs her space. Pete and Ariana are really hoping for the best for each other.”
Another source told Us earlier this month that Miller’s death “put a tremendous amount of strain” on Grande and Davidson’s relationship.
Honestly, doesn’t all of this seem like a really bad episode of Riverdale with a worse cast?
