Ding Dong “Megyn Kelly Today” Is Dead (UPDATE)
Kathie Lee Gifford just told the full-time bartender in her dressing room to pull out the good stuff, because it’s time to celebrate now that it looks like the head bitches at NBC News are finally dumping the blonde reason for why the Happy Hour of Today (read: the fourth hour starring KLG and Hoda Kotb) is getting lower ratings. And then KLG will kick her leg, hop onto the cabaret stage she had built in her dressing room next to the bar, and belt out, “Grey skies are gonna cleeeeear up,” as her assistants ask the bartender for a stiff shot since they’re going to need it if their boss is starting off the day with show tunes.
Just a quick minute after Megyn Kelly dribbled out a canned apology for being a college educated 47-year-old former lawyer and “journalist” who has lived in New York City for years and didn’t know that blackface is racist, The Hollywood Reporter said that a source whispered in their ear about the demise of her show at Today. NBC News is reportedly going to put Megyn Kelly Today out of its misery at the end of this year. Megyn is currently in the middle of a $69 million three-year contract with NBC News. Cut to Black Santa sauntering up to Megyn to give her the gift of a pink slip this Christmas.
Sources say that NBC News’ decision to replace Megyn Kelly Today was in the works before the blackface mess. Megyn and network executives have been meeting for weeks about how her show isn’t working and she wants to get back to covering more serious news and political stuff.
Andy Lack, the chairman of NBC News, didn’t say anything about their failed Megyn Kelly experiment at Today, but at a Town Hall with employees yesterday, he did slap her on the wrist for the blackface fuckery.
“There is no other way to put this, but I condemn those remarks — there is no place on our air or in this workplace for them. Very unfortunate.
As we go forward, my highest priority remains, and as we sort through this with Megyn, let there be no doubt that this is a workplace in which you need to be proud and in which we respect each other in all the ways we know is foundational to who we are.”
One new sign that points to Megyn Kelly Today being changed to Megyn Kelly Yesterday is that she’s without an agent and has hired a lawyer. Megyn has left the talent agency CAA, and a source tells THR that she made that move because CAA reps NBC News president Noah Oppenheim. Megyn’s employer NBC News reports that she dumped CAA, and weeks before the blackface mess, she was in talks with UTA about them representing her. Megyn’s rep even issued a statement last night saying she was moving to UTA. But a quick minute later, a rep for UTA said that they’ve decided not to represent her. Sources say UTA made that decision after several of their clients complained about them signing Megyn after she mouth-farted out that blackface crap.
Megyn is now being represented by top Hollywood lawyer Bryan Freedman. This could mean that Megyn is about to slather black-colored Crisco onto her face to fight NBC.
Megyn didn’t open her show today by saying, “Hello, I’m Megyn Kelly, and I just want to say fuck NBC, and for the record, blackface on Halloween is A-OK!” Megyn didn’t say that because her show didn’t tape today. A repeat from August aired, and a rep from NBC News said this about that:
“Given the circumstances, Megyn Kelly Today will be on tape the rest of the week.”
I understand the circumstances. It’s difficult for Megyn Kelly to tape a live show when she’s busy cleaning out her office and dressing room, and figuring out what to do with stuff like the chonies she shat in after getting hit with Jane Fonda’s death stare.
While many are celebrating the fall of Megyn Kelly (who will be 100% fine after she collects the rest of the cash on her contract), I’m shaking my head at that shady NBC peacock. Trick brought Megyn Kelly over to turn NBC News into Fox News Lite during the reign of Trump. So I don’t know why NBC News is mad or shocked. Megyn Kelly gave them what they overpaid for. Peacock, please!
UPDATE: TMZ says Megyn Kelly probably won’t be back on Today at all, and it looks like she’s 100% done. So on Monday at 9am on NBC, expect to see Kathie Lee Gifford singing, “Grey skies are gonna cleeeeear up”, on top of a piano. People also says that the staff of Megyn Kelly Today are being told that they’re being reassigned, so it looks like Megyn’s days at NBC are done.
