Fran Drescher Is Talking With Cardi B’s People About Playing Her Daughter In A “Nanny” Revival
The laugh which launched a million cringes is coming back with a vengeance. Fran Drescher: nanny, laugher, rap queen’s mother. At least that’s the credit she’s currently trying to add to her resume, because according to Extra, Fran is looking to get Cardi B–rapper, mother, shoe thrower–cast in the revival of The Nanny.
Fran sat down with Mario Lopez and spoke about her hopes for a revival of the show which followed the life of a cosmetics-saleswoman turned nanny, which I feel like is a common career path in today’s economy. Talking about the revival Fran said that she would be very excited to work with Cardi B and that the rapper herself is the one who gave Fran the idea:
“She started it because she kind of paid homage to me, putting our pictures side by side when she was wearing animal print and it was me in animal from The Nanny and that just went viral, that got my creative juices going…. She’s got a funny voice, too. Have you ever heard her speak… so what kind of a great mother/daughter would we be? Amazing, I think.”
Fran had previously spoken about the comedic team-up on The Real and Cardi saw it, posting to her Instagram saying she was totally game for joining Fran in laughing like a hyena with a bad smoking problem:
And so it began. Fran is really serious about actually getting Cardi to work with her on the show, once Cardi’s cooch gets unbroken from childbirth, of course. When Mario asked her if she’s met Cardi yet she replied: “I have not but now I’m talking to her ‘representation’.” Oh Cardi, your representation had better not steer us wrong. You are not too busy having a hugely successful rap career to take time off to be a comedic television nanny!
Fran also spoke about her annual Fran Drescher’s Master Class Health Summit–a part of her Cancer Schmancer Movement, which brings together various health professionals to talk about all things cancer treatment. Fran survived uterine cancer and has become a huge advocate in the wake:
“The doctors that we’re getting are just phenomenal… I just learn so much… They always say things that’s so mind-expanding.”
Fran Drescher really is out here saving the world isn’t she? Not only is she stopping cancer in it’s tracks with intellectual summits, she is also turning the revival game on it’s head by delivering us an actual fresh take on an old idea. Who doesn’t want to have Fran and Cardi rip their eardrums to shreds with their nasally gyrating vocal cords? Who doesn’t want to watch mom Fran and daughter Cardi B roll up on some chick talking smack at the club before delivering a beatdown with their shoes? Think of the plot lines! Think of the outfits! Think of your ears quitting your head when they laugh together!
