Mariah Carey And JLo Both Performed At The AMAs And Everyone Lived To Tell The Tale

Despite looking very much like an expensive weapon, there are no American Music Awards currently being held as crime scene evidence today, awaiting testing to see whose DNA is in the body shimmer lifted by forensics. Both Mariah Carey and her longtime nemesis Jennifer Lopez both hit the stage at the AM’s last night, and there were no casualties caused by thrown awards, pulled hair, or shoes. Technically, the only real throw down was possibly Mariah vs. Singing Live, a battle the internet thinks she might have won.

Mariah took to the stage to perform her new song “With You,” and if her voice from last night were any indication, the “You” she’s singing about might be a prerecorded vocal track. She was surrounded by shirtless dancers that popped out of the six hundred yards of pink fluffy fabric she was wearing, which kind of made her look like the string attached to a bath poof filled with pubes, a true highlight of the evening.

But as Cosmopolitan points out, that’s not what was holding everyone attention. Some accused her of lip-synching.

Who really cares if she was lip syncing or not. She probably was, but that’s Mariah! She leaves the vocal acrobatics to everyone else so she can focus on delivering a memorable, Mariah-style performance. Sadly, we didn’t get the full effect of Mariah. Jennifer Lopez later took the stage to perform her new song “Limitless.” And not once could Mariah be heard from the audience yelling, “Who is performing? Jennifer Lopez? I’m not familiar – is she up for New Artist of the Year or something?

Here’s more of Mariah and JLo on the AMAs red carpet, with Mariah giving you second-husband Vegas vow renewal realness, and JLo giving you Sexy South Beach Endora from Bewitched.
