Amber Heard Really Didn’t Appreciate Johnny Depp Dragging Her To British GQ

British GQ released a Johnny Depp profile that seemed to take everything Rolling Stone did a few months earlier, and did the exact opposite. What we got was a picture of Johnny that made him seem cool, funny, not an alcoholic, responsible with money, and living for his truth. I’m sure Johnny hugged the issue with eyes closed and whispered “Thank you” after he lifted his copy from his mailbox. But one person who clearly didn’t buy British GQ’s power washing of Johnny’s reputation was his ex-wife Amber Heard.

During British GQ’s piece, Amber is brought up in conjunction with Johnny’s recent money mismanagement and alleged abusive behavior. Johnny claimed that his image was attacked on purpose by the “power mongers” in Hollywood who turned him from “Cinderella” to “Quasimodo” in the press. He also addressed the video that was leaked to TMZ back in August 2016 that showed what appeared to be a verbally abusive Johnny terrorizing his then-wife, saying the context was faked by Amber or someone else (additionally, he questioned why she never went to the police). He also kept repeating that it was important for the truth to come out, which sounded like he was heavily implying that everything you’ve read about him being a shitty, violent husband was a lie.

Amber’s version of the truth clearly doesn’t match up with Johnny’s. Page Six says she had her attorney release a statement to remind everyone of her side of things, or as much as she’s allowed to say. When Amber settled her divorce with Johnny, she took her settlement money and donated it to a variety of charities, and both agreed not to discuss the details of their relationship publicly. Amber isn’t only pissed at Johnny blabbing about her, she’s pissed at British GQ for publishing such a one-sided account.

“It is outrageous that GQ never spoke to any of the multiple witnesses to Mr. Depp’s physical abuse of Ms. Heard prior to publishing its article. If GQ had done even a basic investigation into Mr. Depp’s claims, it would have quickly realized that his statements are entirely untrue. Mr. Depp has blatantly disregarded the parties’ confidentiality agreement and yet has refused to allow Ms. Heard to respond to his baseless allegations, despite repeated requests that she be allowed to do so.

Mr. Depp is shamefully continuing his psychological abuse of Ms. Heard, who has attempted to put a very painful part of her life firmly in her past. One need only look at the physical evidence to draw the proper conclusion.”

Page Six asked British GQ for a comment on Amber’s statement, but they didn’t respond. Journalist Jonathan Heaf stated in his article on Johnny that he wasn’t “claiming to know with any authority about what happened between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard” and that the intention was to go to Johnny and hear his side of the story, “which up until now has not been properly heard.”

An attorney for Johnny tells Page Six: “In his GQ interview, Mr. Depp is simply defending himself against Ms. Heard’s lingering false abuse accusations.” So, so much for that confidentiality agreement. If Johnny’s talking, then I’m sure it’s not long before Amber sits down with the publication of her choice to spill her side. And when she does, I hope she goes petty and picks Rolling Stone. The only thing that could make this mess messier is for Johnny’s brain to implode while trying to figure out who he’s more pissed off at.
