Open Post: Hosted By Will Smith Bungee Jumping Over The Grand Canyon

September 26, 2018 / Posted by:

Will Smith spent his 50th birthday bungee jumping out of a helicopter over The Grand Canyon for a live-streamed event on YouTube. Advertised as Will Smith: The Jump, the live event was hosted by Fresh Prince alum Alfonso Rivera, and the entire family was there to witness the stunt. According to Vulture, Will agreed to do the stunt when he was challenged by YouTube creators Yes Theory. Will accepted the challenge and, as if compelled by the power of Xenu, decided to make it a whole thing. He teamed up with an organization called Global Citizen, a charity focused on education, and hyped the shit out of it.

Here’s the the jump!

Clearly I never got over the trauma of watching The Challenger explode because I absolutely braced myself for Will igniting into a puff of smoke when they were counting him down. Good for Will though, he was clearly scared shitless. But he needn’t have worried. If the bungee had failed, his big old Dumbo ears would probably have landed him safely.

Here is Will at the Jump site with the Yes Theory fellows.

Here’s a bunch of celebrities, bookended by America’s #1 stunt queen Tom Cruise, wishing Will a happy birthday.

It seems like, for the past couple of years, the Pinkett-Smith Family Players have been diversifying their public offerings. Jada started her Red Table Talk Facebook show, Will tried doing EDM music, they took up a charity case, Jaden channeled aliens who spoke to him through the microwave, and now Will is a YouTuber. Maybe next they’ll start a band, buy an old school bus and tour the country!
