When The New York Times came out with an expozay (I’m too lazy to copy and paste the accent mark) saying Asia Argento is like the very sexual predators she is fighting to take down, her fellow #MeToo fighter Rose McGowan tweeted (and deleted) that everyone needs to wait until more information comes out and to be gentle with Asia. That tweet went down about as well as your lunch while reading the allegations against Asia. Rose has taken some time to gather all the info, I guess, because she has now removed her white gloves and ripped the “Handle With Care” label off of Asia. Rose released a statement last night, telling Asia to pull an opposite Harvey Weinstein and take responsibility.
Asia was accused of trying to sweep sexual assault allegations and a lawsuit under the rug by paying her 17-year-old accuser, Jimmy Bennet, $380,000 to go away. Asia has known Jimmy since he was a little boy (she directed him in a movie) and the NYT said she had sex with him when he was the ILLEGAL age of 17 in 2013. Asia denied having any kind of sex with Jimmy, but did admit to paying him off and said it was Anthony Bourdain’s idea. TMZ then served up a picture of Asia in bed with a 17-year-old Jimmy, who issued his own statement last week, and text messages with an unnamed friend where she admits to being with him but that “the horny kid jumped” her. Rose claims in her statement that those texts were between Asia and firefighter turned model Rain Dove Dubilewski, who Rose is currently dating.
Rose says she hasn’t known Asia that long, but they bonded over what they’ve been through and even got matching dot tattoos. That bond was shattered when Rain called and told her about texting with Asia. Rain says that Asia admitted in texts that she had sex with Jimmy and that he’s been sending her nudes of him since he was 12. Now, I’d like to think that if most growns got a nude from a 12 year old, they’d either scream for 911, the FBI, and Chris Hansen, or they’d douse their phone with gasoline, set that dark-sided shit on fire, and put the ashes in an iron urn filled with bricks and holy water before dropping it into the middle of the ocean. But Rose says that Asia did nothing.
Asia mentioned in these texts that she didn’t take any action on those images. No reporting to authorities, to the parents, or blocking of Jimmy’s social media. Not even a simple message “Don’t send me these images. They are inappropriate.” There were a few other details revealed as well that I am not at liberty to mention in this statement as investigators do their job.
Rose claimed that Rain took the texts to the police, and 48 hours later they were on TMZ. Rose also supposedly urged Rain to hand the texts over to the authorities.
According to Rose, Asia told her that someone has been extorting her for money every month over a picture. Rose now knows this is what Asia was talking about.
Its sad to lose a friend connection, but whats even more sad is what happened to Jimmy Bennet. Whether or not the extortion case is true- it wasn’t fair and it wasn’t right. It is the type of thing I fight against alongside so many. The reason I haven’t released a statement is because I’ve frankly been extremely humbled by this event. I had to take a step back and realise that in my own activism while I fight hard with passion- I need to evolve. In the past I have been occasionally angry. As a victim I was justified in fiery feelings. But I know that those accused are the friends, parents, and family members of other people. There absolutely should be no leeway or tolerance for sexual assault. Hard stop. NONE.
Rose ends with a note to her ex-Ride or Die, telling Asia to own up.
Asia you were my friend. I loved you. You’ve spent and risked a lot to stand with the MeToo movement. I really hope you find your way through this process to rehabilitation and betterment. Anyone can be be better- I hope you can be, too. Do the right thing. Be honest. Be fair. Let justice stay its course. Be the person you wish Harvey could have been.
Because everyone involved is releasing a statement on this, Rain Dove is also releasing one tomorrow:
I’ll b releasing a statement tomorrow. I’m taking a day to digest & really give this event the gravity it deserves. As tabloids circulate try not to overglorify those that come forward or overvillify those in question. Let’s just let justice takes it course & truth light the way.

Someone who hasn’t released another statement is Asia Argento. She hasn’t said anything since her denial. Asia did say in the alleged text messages between herself and Rain Dove that if she loses her job (and she’s already lost a job) she will move to Africa or the Amazon forest where they don’t give a fuck about “this shit.” So something tells me that Asia hasn’t commented again because she’s in the middle of the Amazon forest trapped in a cage made of rubber tree branches and surrounded by animals who are throwing her eyes that say, “Oh yes, bitch, we do give a fuck about this shit.”
