Dave Bautista Says That The Thought Of Working For Disney Without James Gunn Is Now “Nauseating” (UPDATE)

The Guardians of the Galaxy movies have made so much money, you might think Dave Bautista, who plays Dax the Destroyer in the series, says a little prayer of thanks to Disney every time he checks his bank balance. But the only thing Dave probably does now when he thinks of Disney is grab a bucket in case he needs something to heave into.

When Disney announced that they fired GotG director James Gunn after some old “offensive” tweets had resurfaced, the cast jumped to his defense. Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, and Chris Pratt, as well as many non-Guardians, proclaimed that they stand with James and urged Disney to reconsider. Dave was really passionate about bringing James back for the upcoming third film, tweeting multiple times about the situation.

The latest news was that Disney reportedly has zero plans to hire James back. Dave was obviously hoping that Disney would change their mind, and Deadline says he hopped on Twitter to tweet his displeasure with Mickey’s people. Dave was asked by a fan what he’d do if Disney was adamant about James. Dave will show up to work, but he won’t be happy about it.

I can relate; I felt totally sick to my stomach when I learned Disneyland changed the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride into a cheap Guardians of the Galaxy ride.

This isn’t the first time Dave has pointed the finger at “cybernazis” (a term which sounds like a way-less-fun remake of Hackers). Not long after James was let go, Dave accused cyber nazis of orchestrating a plot to target James Gunn, and Disney of folding like a cheap umbrella. Why those cyber nazis targeted James Gunn, I’m not sure – it’s not exactly clear. But anytime the word “nazis” is involved, you can be sure the motivation is no good.

Obviously, cyber nazis or not, Dave signed a contract, and – James or no James – he’s got to show up for that third movie. I just wonder if Dave will protest on set. Like purposely ruining every take by sitting there next to Star-Lord, tweeting “This is bullshit” over and over again, and claiming that his name is now Drax the Difficult.

UPDATE: Dave Bautista isn’t done hissing at Disney. This afternoon, Dave spoke to ShortList about his “nauseating” tweet. James Gunn was reportedly working on the script for the 3rd installment of GotG when he was fired. Dave has issued Disney and Marvel an ultimatum: if they don’t use James’ script, Dave is walking.

“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”

But where will Disney and Marvel find a former WWE wrestler-turned-blockbuster movie actor? The Rock, get your agent on the phone!
