Open Post: Hosted By A Baaaaaaad Goat Invasion In Boise

Kids do the darndest things. OK, fine, I’ll stop. Residents of one Boise neighborhood woke up this morning wondering if shrooms had somehow gotten into their drinking water because instead of coffee and the morning coffee, they were eye-to-eye with a bunch of four-legged rascals munching on Granny’s favorite rose bush. A herd of goats escaped from their farm, and getting them back home was no easy bleat. I mean, feat. OK, I’ll actually stop this time.

KTVB says neighbors noticed some imperialist goats invading their ‘hood beginning at 7am Friday, and eventually 118 adult and baby goats had turned their boring cul de sac into Boise’s hottest petting zoo. What a start to the weekend! My favorite is commentary by this teenager Ben Dunn, who honestly tells a story we better than me:

“My mom was shaking me up like crazy, and she was like ‘Ben, come outside!’ and I was like ‘what, what?'” he said. “I looked out, and I was like, ‘oh dang.’”

Oh dang, indeed! Naturally, the goat block party drew out the neighbors, and shooing them back home didn’t come easy. The goats were workers of a company called We Rent Goats, which makes the source of my favorite kind of cheese available for weed removal. Kim and Matt Gabica, who own We Rent Goats, said the “escape artists” broke through a fence, and I’d pull a Houdini, too! Those goats are doing all the munching and probably don’t see a dime! Here are some shots from the scene:

The goats eventually went home, and every kid on that street in Boise were seen high-fiving because their furry friends just got them out of having to mow the lawn this weekend!
