If The Emmys Didn’t Nominate “Modern Family” For Outstanding Comedy, Did The Emmy Nominations Even Happen?

July 12, 2018 / Posted by:

The 70th annual Emmy nominations were announced this morning by Samira Wiley (from The Handmaid’s Tale and Orange is the New Black) and Ryan Eggold (from The Black List and 90210 2.0). Or did they? Because Modern Family didn’t come out of either of their mouths while announcing the main comedy nominations. This is the first time in the show’s history that it hasn’t been nominated for Outstanding Comedy. It won 5 times in a row for its first 5 seasons, and has won a total of 22 Emmys. That Emmy statue chick is breathing a sigh of relief that her breath doesn’t smell like Modern Family ass today because she’s no longer got her tongue up that show’s ass. I’m sure the cast and creators will dry their rejected tears on the $1 million bills they had specially printed up by the U.S. Treasury because it’s so much easier to carry around one $1 million bill instead of one million $1 bills.

As expected, Game of Thrones got the most Emmy nominations today with 22. Saturday Night Live and Westworld got 21 each, and the feel-good cinematic Prozac known as The Handmaid’s Tale got 20. Sandra Oh made history by becoming the first Asian woman to be nominated for Lead Actress for the acting she does in the show that everyone and their Grindr fuck buddy tells me to watch (Killing Eve). John Legend is also very close to getting his E in EGOT (he’s got a G, O and T) by getting nominated for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie for playing Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar Live!.

As for the other snubs, I’m sure your tonsils are already stuck to the wall from you screaming them off over your favorite not getting shit. I did just that over Penelope Cruz’s Donatella Versace wig not getting honored. Yes, she got a nomination, but the wig did not.

Roseanne the show got two Emmy noms (one for the legendary Aunt Jackie), but Roseanne Barr herself didn’t get a nom. Whatever. Roseanne doesn’t need the stupid Emmys when she’s a shoo-in to receive The Paula Deen Lifetime Achievement Award at the Mammys (read: the KKK’s version of the Emmys).

You can see all of the nominations here, but I’ve copy + pasted a lot of them below. The Emmys air on September 17.
