Johnny Depp Has Been Sued By A Film Crew Member For Alleged Assault
I know that the “Assault? Did he look at his face? Cause it sure is killing me” jokes write themselves when it comes to Johnny Depp. But this assault is the kind that is causing one more problem for Johnny’s already overworked lawyers. In May it was reported that Johnny had allegedly attacked a location manager during the filming of his latest film City of Lies. That location manager has recently decided to sue him.
TMZ says that Johnny is being sued by Gregg “Rocky” Brooks, who was hired last year as the location manager for City of Lies (formerly titled LAbyrinth), the Biggie Smalls/Tupac murder film. Johnny plays the detective investigating Biggie Smalls’ murder. Rocky Brooks claims that he was present in downtown Los Angeles on April 13, 2017 for the filming of a scene with Johnny. According to Rocky’s lawsuit, the scene wasn’t working well, and he informed the film’s director and Johnny that they only had one more take to finish it.
Whether it’s wrapping up a scene, smartly managing money, or just general showering – obviously nobody tells Johnny what to do. So after Rocky approached Johnny, he became “volatile,” and Rocky went to get an LAPD officer for protection. But before Rocky got to the cop, Johnny allegedly punched Rocky twice in the ribcage while screaming, “Who the fuck are you? You have no right to tell me what to do.”
When Rocky didn’t react, a very belligerent Johnny allegedly offered Rocky $100,000 to punch Johnny in the face before being restrained by his bodyguards. Rocky claims in his lawsuit that Johnny’s breath “reeked of alcohol” during his tirade.
Rocky is seeking damages, but it’s not specified how much. Rocky claims in his lawsuit that he never took the bait and hit back. Possibly because he knew it wouldn’t look good to have that kind of work experience on a resume. But my guess is the booze-smell on Johnny’s breath might have had something to do with it. Rocky smelled the alcohol, remembered how bleak Johnny’s financial situation is at the moment, and realized that there was a very good chance the $100,000 Johnny was offering might turn out to be $100,000 worth of empties to be returned at the local recycling center.
