Miranda Lambert Really Didn’t Want To Talk About Gwen Stefani

It’s been three years since Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton broke up, and about three years minus a bit since he got with Gwen Stefani. If I could ask Miranda Lambert a question, I might ask: “Do your boyfriends know what a wedding ring is?” But others might want to ask Miranda what she thought about her ex-husband getting with the queen of 40-volume hair peroxide. Before today, Miranda had no comment on the topic, but she’s now ready to say the name “Gwen.

Miranda spoke to HITS Daily Double (via Cosmopolitan) about the lack of promotion for her 2016 album, The Weight of These Wings, her first album since her divorce from Blake. Miranda says she refused to do press for the album because she knew she was only going to be asked about her ex and his new girlfriend. She said she told her manager that she wouldn’t talk to anyone unless they listened to the album, because she didn’t want to rehash all the drama after her divorce.

She finally gave in and gave an interview, but of course, the first question she was asked was about Gwen.

“I got on the phone for the first interview. First question was, ‘How do you feel about Gwen?’ I hung up. I told [my manager] ‘I just can’t do this.’ What was in the music was real, and I wanted people to get it from that. Take from it what they would. Then if I needed to talk, I would. But I haven’t really until now.”

Miranda stopped doing interviews for The Weight of These Wings right after the Gwen question. As for how she feels about Gwen now, well – Miranda didn’t get into that. I doubt she’s still feeling the kind of bitter that would make her hang up the phone or toss it in the nearest pond. Personally, I’d want to know how she’d react to being asked about Blake’s Sexiest Man Alive cover. You’d know for sure she hadn’t hung up, thanks to all the loud laughing.
