Open Post: Hosted By The Sad Final Picture Of Geoffrey The Giraffe Leaving Toys ‘R’ Us

It should be a great weekend for those who are looking forward to celebrating all the booze and hot dogs that Canada Day and Independence Day have to offer. Sadly, it looks like the same can’t be said for Geoffrey the Giraffe. Today, Toys ‘R’ Us is closing their doors for good after declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy last September. But what happens to the beloved Toys ‘R’ Us mascot Geoffrey?! A Toys ‘R’ Us employee has been posting some pretty depressing photos on Facebook of what is now the empty, hollow shell of their store.

Last pictures of store after we locked the doors for the last time.

But the saddest has been this picture of Geoffrey, with his sad little rolling suitcase of crushed dreams, his Hawaiian shirt of hopelessness, and his googly eyes that used to say “This way for fun!“, but now they say, “Oh god, what will I tell my wife?“. Who am I kidding? The second Gigi the Giraffe heard about the bankruptcy, she packed up the kids and moved in with the Geico lizard.

It’s not known where Geoffrey is going, but I’ll just pretend he’s packed up because he’s excited for his retirement at a senior resort in Florida, where his reward for a life of service is that he’ll never step on a Lego every again.
