Peter Fonda Is Sorry For The Barron Trump Tweet That The Secret Service Was Notified About

Because Kathy Griffin had such a great experience with her own Presidential issues, Peter Fonda decided that he too would make a serious statement speaking out against Melania Trump pretty much doing nothing and saying not much about her captor/sugar daddy shrugging as crying children were ripped from their families at the border and put into cages (cages that are not even 1/10000000000th as luxurious as Melania’s gilded cage). Ole’ Pete went in. You know those Fondas: love to make a statement.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Peter–who has twice been nominated for an Oscar–has been recently nominated for a higher honor: a little investigation by the secret service! I hope he wins!

In a since-deleted Tweet (why do people think deleting things even really matters these days?), Peter suggested we round-up the youngest of the Trump hellions and cage him with pedos.

“WE SHOULD RIP BARRON TRUMP FROM HIS MOTHER’S ARMS AND PUT HIM IN A CAGE WITH PEDOPHILES AND SEE IF MOTHER WILL WILL STAND UP AGAINST THE GIANT ASSHOLE SHE IS MARRIED TO. 90 MILLION PEOPLE IN THE STREETS ON THE SAME WEEKEND IN THE COUNTRY. FUCK.”

Well.  That paints a picture.  And how often is Barron really being cradled in Melania Trump‘s arms? Not believable. He’s in Consuela’s arms: the one Mexican the Trump family likes because they’ve ‘had her forever’.

Donald Trump Jr. didn’t seem to like the tweet either:

The Secret Service say they’ve been alerted about the tweet. Stephanie Grisham, who is the spokesperson for first lady Melanie, said: “The tweet was sick and irresponsible and USSS was notified.”

A few hours later, after he likely received several tense phone calls, Peter wrote an apology saying:

“I tweeted something highly inappropriate and vulgar about the president and his family in response to the devastating images I was seeing on television. Like many Americans, I am very impassioned and distraught over the situation with children separated from their families at the border, but I went way too far. It was wrong and I should not have done it. I immediately regretted it and sincerely apologize to the family for what I said and any hurt my words have caused.”

But he didn’t totally double-down on being regretful and added some more anti-Trump tweets to his timeline, albeit slightly less aggressive:

This, of course, is not the first time that presidents and their family members have gotten ugly threats. But why do I always hear about it when it’s some cute, rich white boy getting threatened (or in Kathy Griffin’s case, an overgrown white toddler)? Brenda from Scary Movie had it correct.
