Andy Cohen Name Drops John Mayer To Show He Isn’t Dating John Mayer

While it might seem like Andy Cohen is the tip of a hag love triangle that is bottomed (teehee) by Kelly Ripa and Sarah Jessica Parker, he also always seems to have a special spot on his BFF shelf for John Mayer. Those two are so close that they go to gay bars and sometimes confuse people into thinking they are dating. But don’t you come to any conclusions, silly fans! Just because John Mayer sings to Andy for his birthday, and just because John Mayer is his go-to call buddy, and just because John Mayer is a ride-or-die friend, that doesn’t mean Andy would ever date John Mayer. 

CNN sat down with Andy since he just turned 50, and nothing gets clicks/makes reporters roll their eyes like asking a celebrity what they’ve learned in life now that they hit the half-century mark. Andy used it to talk about his two favorites: Kathy Griffin and pre-show cocaine. Kidding, kidding! He blabbed about John. There have been plenty of rumors he was dating Andy, especially when the latter said John was the “perfect wingman” at gay bars, and some of us (ok, fine…just me) took that to mean they liked to touch each other’s wings. Anyway, Andy says just because it looks like a gay, and quacks out Cher songs like a gay…doesn’t mean it’s a gay:

“Listen, we have a very sweet friendship, and we are together all the time. I think that I was not surprised because we also have a great love for each other. So, it just seems like the obvious assumption.”

Andy then puts things to rest by repeatedly bringing up John…like how they FaceTimed at 2am the night prior and how when it comes to dating, he’s looking for…well, see for yourself:

“Someone who is like John Mayer. Just kidding. What am I looking for? I’m looking for someone strong, independent, smart, who has their own thing going on.”

Well, I don’t think Jessica Simpson, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and a legion of other women would describe him as strong, independent, or smart…but you know who has their own thing going on and won’t pester you to give them a ticket to a Real Housewives reunion? John Mayer!
