Johnny Depp Is Being Sued By His Former Bodyguards For Crappy Working Conditions

Two weeks ago it was reported that Johnny Depp was dropped by his latest law firm, who heavily implied he was just too big of a legal mess to deal with. They’re no doubt feeling good about that decision today, because his lawsuit pile just grew by one more.

According to E! News, two of Johnny’s former bodyguards Eugene Arreola and Miguel Sanchez have recently filed a lawsuit against him. They are accusing him of a variety of offenses including unpaid wages, unpaid overtime, wrongful termination, and unlawful business practices. Eugene and Miguel also claim that much of their time was spent making sure Johnny didn’t get too fucked up on his “vices.” Like preventing PR nightmares by pointing out any “substances” on Johnny’s face while he was getting his party on.

“Often times Plantiffs were forced to protect Defendant Depp from himself and his vices while in public, becoming caretakers for him. An incident at a local nightclub involved Plantiffs alerting Depp of illegal substances visible on his face and person while preventing onlookers from seeing Depp’s condition.”

I wonder what that onlooker prevention entailed? The obvious guess is that they positioned their big, beefy bodyguard bodies in front of Johnny like a human wall. But I also want to believe it involved some creative lying too. “Uh, Johnny’s face is white and powdery because…he’s filming Edward Scissorhands II?

The line between work and personal Johnny maintenance became blurred in 2016, when he first started having money problems. Eugene and Miguel previously guarded Johnny through a company called Premiere Group International. Once money got tight, Johnny hired Eugene and Miguel directly as part of his in-house security detail. I’m sure you’ll be so shocked to learn that Johnny was allegedly a super-shitty boss.

Eugene and Miguel claim that from May 2016 to January 2018, Johnny never gave them overtime pay, rest breaks, or meals during their 12-hour shifts. Some of Johnny’s requests allegedly bordered on criminal. Eugene and Miguel claim that they were often instructed to drive vehicles containing “illegal substances, open containers, and minors” for him.

Miguel also alleges in the lawsuit that he was the primary caregiver of Johnny’s son Jack, who he babysat in a house on Johnny’s compound (away from Johnny’s house). Miguel also claims he was instructed to “give in to every whim” of Johnny’s kids Jack and Lily-Rose unless he wanted to lose his job. Miguel also had a scary situation in which he was forced to drive the head of Johnny’s security team to the hospital after he accidentally shot himself in the leg.

Eugene and Miguel claim that performing double duty as babysitters and drivers, combined with watching Johnny self-destruct, created a toxic and unsafe work environment, and they were forced to quit.

Of course working for Johnny Depp would be a messy nightmare. Frankly, I’m shocked that Eugene and Miguel didn’t paint a worse picture. Babysitting spoiled brats, gunshots, and drug clean-ups? This is Johnny Depp. They’re lucky he didn’t drag them out into the ocean one day on a vintage ship filled with money and swords, looking for real Somali pirates to duel with.
