Oliver Hudson Is Trying To Make Things Right With His Biological Dad

Father’s Day is less than three months away. Three years ago, brother of Kate Oliver Hudson celebrated by dragging his absentee dad Bill Hudson on Instagram by wishing him a “happy abandonment day.” Naturally, I pictured a pissed-off Oliver Hudson prepping for Father’s Day this year by whipping out the construction paper and white glitter, and throwing together a card that reads “Happy Sperm Donor Day!” But Oliver recently admitted during an interview with Larry King to promote his new show Splitting Up Together that he’s trying to work things out with his biological dad.

Three years ago, Bill told The Daily Mail that after he split from Goldie Hawn in 1980, he believed she turned his kids, Oliver (who was 4 at the time) and Kate Hudson (who was 1), against him so that they’d consider her new boyfriend, Kurt Russell, as their father (which they did). He also said that Oliver and Kate were dead to him. During Oliver’s interview with Larry King, Larry mentioned that Bill is Oliver’s dad, which was followed by asking him if he’s “friendly” with Bill. Oliver acknowledged the Father’s Day drama of 2015, and said they’re working on it.

“Well, we’re trying right now. You know, we’ve shot some texts back and forth. There was an incident that happened via my Instagram where I posted something that was darkly comedic, and it blew up into something, and actually it helped us with our relationship. So now, we’re kind of keeping in touch.”

There you go, Instagram: bringing people together. Or…maybe just in this one specific instance, with these two famous people, and what I assume is at least three thousand dollars spent on therapist’s bills, but still. As for how Kate Hudson’s relationship with Bill is, that’s not known. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Bill calls up his friends at The Daily Mail with an update regarding which of his children are currently dead to him.
