Diddy Went To The Desert To Deal With His Cellphone Addiction

GQ’s cover man of the month is Love. How’s that you say? Is it like when Time’s person of the year was “You”? No, it’s not like that at all. Love is Diddy. Sean Combs. Puff Daddy. P Diddy. Diddy Diddy Oxen Free. Diddy Though? She Already Diddy Done Had Hers. Look, I did a lot of Diddy name jokes the last time and the time before that so cut me some slack.

Even though he pulled a Ben Affleck and told us a lie to save face, it’s Love now. End of story. Love is on the cover of GQ and he told them about a rough patch he went through that drove him to wander the desert like Caine to deal with his cell phone addiction.

The GQ interviewer was digging into Love’s feelings of guilt stemming from not having been able to stop Biggie (the Spike to his Chester) from being killed. Apparently, Love has been unable to face those events though they haunt him still. When asked if he’d seen a therapist to help deal with it, Love said “nah”. Sometimes when something’s too big, you switch focus to something smaller and more manageable. Maybe that’s why the next thing Love revealed was this:

He said that two and a half years ago, he had become depressed. He’d developed an addiction to his phone. He felt “far away from God.” He went to Sedona, Arizona.

Two years ago was about the same time Love stole his girlfriend Cassie’s phone and they got into a big fight. Maybe it was his addiction driving him, not pent up rage and unresolved issues! That’s one serious addiction when you go around snatching other people’s phones. You’d think Love would have a better data plan and wouldn’t have to be stealing phones to post his Maya Angelou quotes on Instagram (as noted by GQ).

I digress but Love continued:

“Where the vortexes are?” I asked.

“Exactly,” he said, smiling. In Sedona he reconnected with his magic. He was hearing new songs in his head. “I’m not 100 percent knowing how to come up with the sounds yet,” he said, but he felt almost ready to compete on the radio again.

When he’s ready, expect an album called Love Presents: Chakra Khan and The Gnostic Crystals Featuring Guru with Special Guest Enya or similar.
