Danny Boyle Will Direct The Next “James Bond” Movie And Promises A Bond Girl Fit For The #Metoo Era

Daniel Craig’s last go round (definitely, maybe, probably, I’m sure, unless it isn’t in which case next to last at most but probably last, for sure) as James Bond will be directed by Danny Boyle and, according to Page Six, it will feature a Bond girl who is more than the sum of her parts (traditionally that adds up to tits, ass and a confusing pan-european accent). Danny recently said he wants to make a Bond girl who is compatible with the “modern world”.

Page Six reports:

After being asked if Bond Girls could be depicted in a different light in the #MeToo and Time’s Up era, Boyle told Page Six on Thursday, “You write in real time.”

It’s so nice to know that #metoo and the TU movement have liberated us modern gals from having anything interesting to do or say that’s not directly related to sexual assault and harassment! Danny says he doesn’t know exactly what a current day Bond girl looks like yet as he and screenwriter John Hodge (who he’s worked with on just about everything including Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, T2 and The Beach) are still working on the script for Bond 25 (working title). Danny said:

“You acknowledge the legacy of the world [of Bond] and you write in the world — but you also write in the modern world as well.”

Of any specifics of his female Bond characters, he said, “I can’t tell you yet, will report back later.”

Luckily for Danny the bar is pretty low. We will probably never get a female Bond but it would be refreshing if Bond 25 had a woman in it whose special skills aren’t just blow jibbers and knowing 3,000 different ways to tie a sarong. Actually, that last one’s a pretty solid skill I’d like to see.
