Drake Ran Around Miami Giving Shit Away For His “God’s Plan” Music Video

There hasn’t been a Canadian granted Sainthood since St. François de Laval (B.1623, D. 1708), but Drake is poised to knock St. Frank off his high horse and get. that. title, boi! According to E! News, St. Drake spent some time in Miami this week doing good works in the name of the lord. Was he clipping toenails at the leper colony or giving crippled orphans a reverse wheelchair Jimmy with the laying on of hands? Not exactly. Drake was generating footage for his newest music video God’s Plan.

Apparently God’s plan was for Drake to descend on a Miami Beach supermarket and buy everybody’s groceries, donate $25,000 to a high school (and saddle them with uniforms designed by the Drake-endorsed clothing label OVO) and give one University of Miami student a novelty check for $50,000. This charity was offered free and clear with the only caveat being he got to film it all for his video. If that doesn’t make Drake a saint, I don’t know what will.

Here’s Drake silently giving. He’s going to send this picture to the IRS in lieu of receipts for he can get that charitable donation deduction.

This happened today. I applied to scholarships last year for which I had to write an essay. I received those scholarships and thought that was the end of it. Apparently, my essay and my story made it to other departments. I was contacted this weekend about doing a video speaking about where I come from, things I've been through, and why it is so important for scholarship donors to continue to donate. This was the surprise the whole time. Drake told me that he has read great things about me and appreciates how hard I've worked through so many trials and decided to give me $50K for my tuition. @champagnepapi THANK YOU SO MUCH!!' You don't understand what this means to me! I would've never imagined this happening to me. I'm just a girl from Denmark, SC that wants to MAKE IT and be somebody and for you to see my hard work means the world. Thank you so much. God I thank you. You are so great and amazing! Thank you for blessing me when I thought my hard work was going unnoticed. I'm living out my dreams. God's Plan ??

And here’s what the scene was at the supermarket. E! News says:

Shoppers at Sabor Tropical Supermarket got quite the treat when the rapper came into the store around 4 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon with a megaphone and announced that he’d be paying for everyone’s items. The rapper reportedly bought at total of $50,000 on the groceries.

Lucky customer Guille Deza told E! News that, “No one knew he was coming at all, we just came to do groceries. Cameras were being set up so we were all wondering what was to happen.”

Shoppers say he was walking around encouraging shoppers to fill their carts and taking selfies with anybody who asked. I hope those lucky shoppers played by Supermarket Sweep rules and headed straight for the liquor and giant hams.

Here’s one lucky shopper’s haul video (second image, click through).

That was smart of Drake to not try to pull that shit at Whole Foods. They say giving anonymously is the purest expression of charity but I’m not so sure. This simple riddle has puzzled philosophers for eons: If a rapper gives you a ham, and there are no cameras around to capture it, did it really happened? We may never know the answer!
