The Razzie Nominations Are Here, And It’s A “mother!” Of A Line-Up
You could just tell from Darren Aronofsky’s rambling on and on and on and…you get the idea…about his twisted Sunday School of a movie, mother!, that he just KNEW he was going to spend the night of the Oscars collecting statue after statue and rubbing shoulders with Meryl Streep. Instead, he’ll get the chance to maybe be the muse for James Franco’s next movie about a turd of a movie (well, if he’s even allowed to make movies again). That’s right, the 38th annual Golden Raspberry Awards nominees were released today, and it looks like those Fifty Shades Of Shit movies have some competition from mother!.
Variety says the nominees for the year’s worst movies (aka everything I watched) were dropped today, one day before the Oscars nominees are revealed. It appears Jennifer Lawrence career has taken one of her totally non-staged tumbles, from the Oscars to the Razzies. She got nominated for Worst Actress for her role in mother! This might be good for JLaw to get a feel for the room, as her wig alone in the upcoming Red Sparrow is a lock for Best Actress at next year’s awards…just ask Tyler Perry and his wig from today’s noms.
As a shock to nobody, the electric (cough) chemistry between Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson landed them both on the Best Actor and Actress category for what seems like the 900th Fifth Shades movie. Also, I’m sure Katherine Heigl, nominated for her role in Unforgettable, was just glad to see anyone in Hollywood still remembers her name.
Mark Wahlberg got nominated for Worst Actor, but I was surprised it wasn’t for his role in income inequality. Alas, it was his roles in Daddy’s Home 2 and Transformer XVII: The Last Knight. While the NBC lot must be filled with the cacophony of Debra Messing’s shriek-laughing to Susan Sarandon’s nom for A Bad Moms Christmas, I am OUTRAGED by the disrespect at Kim Basinger winding up on this list for her role in Fifty Shades Darker (yes, I saw it). How dare they insult a screen siren like that. She was married to Alec Baldwin, so hasn’t she suffered enough?! Plus, the whole movie was mainly just her looking confused, floating across a room, and saying something bitchy to the rest of the actors. That’s not acting – that’s just rightfully looking for the nearest exit from a flop! You can check out the rest of the “lucky” nominees below:
