Are You Ready For President The Rock? Dwayne Johnson Makes His Intentions Known Again

December 14, 2017 / Posted by:

During those first heady days of The Trump Presidency I made a joke on twitter that read:

Ready for a buddy movie starring @terrycrews & @TheRock as POTUS and VPOTUS that turns out to be real life when you walk out of the theater

That joke was dated November 20th, 2016. And it was, well a JOKE. Turns out the universe is very interested in my Twitter feed (but refuses to follow me despite repeated requests) because it has conspired to make my joke a reality. The Rock has talked about running for president, and has even made some moves . And he talked about it again on Ellen.

Here’s the clip of Dwayne chopping it up with Ellen and his friend ‘Lil Kevin who is already trying finagle himself some kind of cabinet position. Secretary of Backseat Liaisons, perhaps?

This, of course, is a terrible idea. I don’t mind idea of The Rock doing promotional diplomacy (I’m picturing a jaunty picnic with him Justin Trudeau and Emmanuel Macron hashing out ways to secure equal pay for women over a bottle of rosé and a lusty Camembert) but I really don’t think The Rock should get anywhere near the U.S. tax code.

The Rock also told Variety that he’s 100% serious about considering running, and that he’s got movies in the works up until 2021, so he probably couldn’t run until 2024.

I’m not holding my breath on this one. After our current nightmare is over, wouldn’t it be nice if we could have a president who has actual experience in governing, knows the ins and outs of international diplomacy and has a deep understanding of world history, global economics and military theory? Although, The Rock most likely learned about those things while playing a CIA Agent in the political drama Central Intelligence.

Here’s Future President The Rock (please no) getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday.
