Tyrese Claims He Only Married His First Wife So She Could Get A Green Card

Long do I wish for the days when the most bonkers thing to come out of the mouth of a Fast and the Furious star was “Stay” from Vin Diesel. But right now we’re in a time where Tyrese Gibson is in a race against himself to keep saying stuff that either makes no sense or is a lie. Tyrese recently admitted that anti-psych meds were responsible for things that he’s said and written on Instagram. According to Page Six, Tyrese is talking more and saying things he probably shouldn’t say.

Tyrese appeared on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show yesterday, and they spoke about his train wreck custody battle with his ex-wife Norma Mitchell over their 10-year-old daughter Shayla. Tyrese has been hissing at Norma for a long time, and he leveled another blow in her direction by claiming he only married her back in 2007 so she could stay in the United States.

“We had an angel, but I married you to keep you in the country. I never married you because I was happily married. You’re from London. I married you because we had a baby on the way and I had to do whatever I had to do so I’m not traveling all the way to London just to spend quality time with my baby. So now you’re running around painting this picture, like we was [whistles Bridal Chorus], like bro we got married and there was like seven people there.

Like, I am the most flashiest, flamboyant dude other than Floyd Mayweather. I am the flashiest. There’s nothing about me that’s low-key and quiet. You know that I married her to keep her in the country.”

Tyrese was married to Norma from 2007 to 2009. Shayla was born in July of 2007. Tyrese is currently married to Samantha Gibson, who he married in March of this year.

So according to Tyrese, Norma is the Gérard Depardieu to his Andie MacDowell. A source spoke to Page Six and claims that’s not the truth.

“He’s lying as always. He tried to get her back before he was engaged. He’s furious she wouldn’t come back to him.”

The source adds that his green card admission is most likely part of Tyrese’s plan to get full custody of his daughter.

There’s one big problem with Tyrese acting like he did Norma a favor by marrying her for the green card. The United States considers that to be marriage fraud, which is a big no-no. Confessing to committing marriage fraud is the kind of thing that could have the government pulling up on you in a fast and furious manner.

But on the non-illegal side of things, claiming that he married Norma for the green card is kind of a self-burn on Tyrese part. He basically admitted he was too lazy to fly to London and see his kid if Norma was forced to return home. Especially when he’s admitting he’s flashier than Floyd Mayweather. You’d think a flashy, flamboyant man like Tyrese would love the opportunity to brag about eating 24k gold-leafed scones while flying a private jet to where Queen Elizabeth II lives.
