Barf: Kate Winslet Says Woody Allen Is In Touch With His Lady Side

December 7, 2017 / Posted by:

Woody Allen’s latest film, Wonder Wheel, has been kind of panned with the exception of Kate Winslet, who I assume must just feel like she owes him for another stab at an Oscar. Because why else would she do the media rounds and not pooh-pooh on him? Oh, that’s right. Nobody who works with Woody has figured out how to respond to the guaranteed reporter question of, “So…why’d you work with the OG sexual predator?” And when they do get it, they act like total deer in headlights. Just ask Blake Lively, who was asked about him after she filmed Café Society. She gave everyone a case of strained side-eye after she tried to peddle he was “empowering” to women. So now it’s Kate’s turn.

During an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald (via The Cut), Kate did the usual Teflon trick of trying to say she knows about as much as the rest of us, and that her relationship with Woody is strictly professional. In other instances, she’s shut down talk from veering to the allegations against Woody, even though she’s had plenty to say about Harvey Weinstein. So Kate had her moment of “Wtf?!” when she sat down with the Sydney Morning Herald to basically say Woody should pick up where Jeffrey Tambor left off in Transparent:

“I think on some level Woody is a woman. I just think he’s very in touch with that side of himself. He understands the female characters he creates exceptionally well. His female characters are always so rich and large and honest in terms of how they’re feeling and he just knows how to write dialogue for them to communicate all that.”

Yes, Kate, we all know how Woody is “in touch” with women. I don’t know what Kool-Aid Woody passes out on set, but Jennifer Lawrence and that Conclave of Hollywood Power Betches she was telling Oprah she wants to form seriously need to invent a counteractive measure. Oh, right. They already have that. It’s called mace.
