Even Garrison Keillor Has Been Accused Of Being A Dirty Old Man

Suddenly Lindsay Lohan doesn’t seem like the worst part in A Prairie Home Companion. Because the media is all about snatching the spotlight from each other, Minnesota Public Radio decided to take the limelight away from NBC (don’t fret, Matt Lauer! We still think you’re a turd) and reveal it was cutting ties with Garrison Keillor due to accusations of inappropriate behavior.

NPR reports Garrison was accused of the behavior by someone he worked with, and the Minnesota member station learned of the accusations in October. While the investigation is still underway, Garrison told his side:

“I meant to pat her back after she told me about her unhappiness and her shirt was open and my hand went up it about six inches. She recoiled. I apologized. If I had a dollar for every woman who asked to take a selfie with me and who slipped an arm around me and let it drift down below the beltline, I’d have at least a hundred dollars. So this is poetic irony of a high order.”

That last part is believable since Garrison is one hot Minneapolis tamale. Cough. MPR is severing its relationship with Garrison and his production company, ending both Writer’s Almanac and reruns of The Best Of Prairie Home Companion. Garrison no longer hosts new broadcasts of Prairie Home Companion (that’s Chris Thile’s job), but the show will go on – with a different name. The station issued an official statement:

“Last month, MPR was notified of the allegations which relate to Mr. Keillor’s conduct while he was responsible for the production of A Prairie Home Companion (APHC). MPR President Jon McTaggart immediately informed the MPR Board Chair, and a special Board committee was appointed to provide oversight and ongoing counsel. In addition, MPR retained an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation of the allegations. Based on what we currently know, there are no similar allegations involving other staff.”

The timing of this couldn’t be any…horrid. Just yesterday, Garrison was defending Al Franken and a C-SPAN communications director happened to pull up the clip of Garrison bemoaning the loss of flirtation once we take away a man’s right to grab any boob he pleases:

You know you’re in trouble when C-SPAN turns into the end-of-couch housewife who finally makes noise in the 16th part of the Real Housewives reunion with screenshots of dick picks the HBIC’s husband sent her way!
