Tyrese Just Made His Fight Over His Daughter Even Messier
Tyrese’s relationship with his 10-year-old daughter Shayla is currently in a very bad state. Earlier this month, it was reported that Tyrese was being investigated by Los Angeles County Child and Family Services for claims made by his ex-wife Norma Gibson. Norma alleged he spanked their daughter so hard she couldn’t sit down. Norma also was looking for full legal and physical custody because she was afraid Tyrese would try to take Shayla out of the country. Some parents might step back and think, huh, this is a real mess, I should probably put aside some money for my lawyers and lay low for the next little while. Tyrese didn’t do that.
According to The Blast, what Tyrese did was blow a bunch of money on an embarrassing public stunt in the sky above Shayla’s school yesterday. A plane flew over Shayla’s school in Van Nuy and it was pulling a banner that read: “NO MATTER WHAT, DADDY LOVES YOU SHAYLA.” Shayla is set to testify against Tyrese in court today. Sources tell The Blast that the message was meant as an attempt to influence Shayla’s testimony.

Unsurprisingly, the message was not well received. Shayla reportedly burst into tears and spent a good chunk of time in the principal’s office. The rest of the school children were brought inside while the plane flew overhead.
I’m guessing Tyrese took a page from some kind of creep’s guide to establishing contact, because not only did he fly a plane with a message to Shayla yesterday, he also reportedly had the following items delivered to her school: a card, balloons, flowers, a teddy bear, and a fruit arrangement. You know you went overboard when you make the actions of an obsessed stalker look restrained. Shayla didn’t even get all the gifts; sources say that eventually the deliveries got to be too upsetting and they just stopped telling her she was getting stuff.
Norma’s lawyer believes that both the banner and the deliveries were Tyrese’s way of circumventing his current temporary restraining order barring him from making direct or indirect contact with Norma and Shayla. Her lawyer also believes that it showed Tyrese’s “erratic state of mind.” Norma spoke to The Blast and said that she doesn’t want to take Shayla away from Tyrese, just that she wants him to go to therapy to help him be a good dad. TMZ says that Norma filed a police report, because she believes that Tyrese’s plane stunt was a violation of the restraining order.
Tyrese hasn’t responded to this, but he did post a video of himself slow-dancing with his dog and a cryptic, somewhat confusing message to Shayla.
10-year-olds are mortified by their parents on a daily basis. But to take it to a humiliating new level by sending weird gifts and airplanes to their school all day? His dog is right to bite at his face like that. I hope that dog is around to aggressively snap at Tyrese’s ankles the next time he thinks about picking up the phone to order flowers from FTD.
