“Mamma Mia 2” Will Bring The “Silkwood” Reunion We All Needed

It’s hard to have a movie that’s all about dancing queens and not include the pop star icon who induces oh-so-many queens to dance, which is why Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again will include the biggest icon of them all: Cher!

The Daily Mail reports Cher is currently in London where she’s rehearsing the songs and dance moves for the sequel to 2008’s Mamma Mia! Putting Cher through rehearsals seems like a waste of time and money to me. Just have her toss on that black number from the “Turn Back Time” video and she can hop around to “Voulez-Vous” just as good as Christine Baranski! For those of you who have seen the first movie around 90 times like I have, you know that the entire budget needs to go to giving Pierce Brosnan a few more voice lessons.

Cher is apparently going to be in two song and dance routines, but those (along with her role) are being kept a secret. The cast, which includes Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Julie Waters, Amanda Seyfried, Dominic Cooper, Lily James, Andy Garcia, Stellan Skarsgard, Pierce, and Christine, has been filming in Croatia. They’ll apparently film with Cher later this week.

An executive producer told the Mail, “Cher’s our secret weapon. It’ll spoil the fun if we give anything away.” He may not want to drop spoilers, but I have a feeling I know what’s going on here. As everyone knows, Cher and Meryl were in Silkwood, where they played roommates who also worked together at a nuclear power plant. The “secret weaponhas to be a plutonium-induced glow-in-the-dark dance to “Chiquitita”!!!
