Angelina Jolie Was Reportedly Involved In A Plot To Trap A Warlord

Is there anything Angelina Jolie can’t do? Act, direct, produce, wrangle a half-dozen children, think of the name “Brad Pitt” without mentally summoning the anger of 1000 Hells.. And now we know she has the power to act as the sexy bait to lure in a warlord.

According to The Times UK (via Page Six), information was recently leaked to French website Mediapart about a secret plot from 2012 to snare Ugandan fugitive warlord Joseph Kony. Remember Kony 2012? Former chief prosecutor for the International Criminal Court Luis Moreno Ocampo was trying to get Kony in custody in the Central African Republic. Part of his scheme to do so reportedly included using Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as decoys in a sting operation.

Moreno Ocampo reportedly explained in emails from five years ago that Angelina was on board, even going so far as suggesting she might lure Kony into a dinner together, at which point he would be arrested by US Special Forces. Brad was also roped in.

“Forget other celebrities, she is the one,” Moreno Ocampo wrote in an e-mail. “She loves to arrest Kony. She is ready. Probably Brad will go also.”

Angelina reportedly wrote back Moreno Ocampo after he suggested the idea, saying:

“Brad is being supportive. Let’s discuss logistics. Much love Xxx.”

The plan never materialized, and it wasn’t from Moreno Ocampo’s lack of trying. Page Six says he repeatedly tried to contact Angelina, and his efforts bordered on that of a fan club president. An email sent to Angelina that said: “I hope you are well, I miss you” went unanswered. After he heard Angelina was ill, he sent an email to her assistant, confessing his love for her. Her assistant responded to inform him that Angelina had changed her email address. Ghosted!

Angelina and Brad weren’t the only famous people that Moreno Ocampo tried to recruit for his To Catch A Kony scheme. Page Six says he also went after George Clooney and Sean Penn. Again, nothing materialized with them.

In 2017, both Uganda and the United States decided 56-year-old Joseph Kony no longer posed a risk and decided to stop searching for him.

It’s not known why Angelina decided not to follow-through with their plan. I’m guessing it had something to do with luring a notorious warlord to a fake dinner being a worse idea than getting Billy Bob’s name tattooed on her arm. Not to mention that Angelina is Miss Human Rights, and it would have looked more than a little suspicious that she was asking a bad dude to a secretive, private dinner. If Moreno Ocampo wanted to sell it, he should have asked Mariah Carey. She’ll entertain any level of evil as long as the champagne is flowing and her dinner is comped.
