Donald Trump Once Used An Extremely Cheesy Pick-Up Line On Brooke Shields

It’s probably safe to say that if you were a woman in the 1980s or 1990s (or hell, present day) who has come within arm’s reach of Donald Trump, you might have a story about him attempting to work his charmless rich douche game on you. Emma Thompson has one, and so does Brooke Shields.

Brooke was on Watch What Happens Live! last night, and she played a game called Brooke Fields, where she had to guess the identity of someone from her past (their face was covered up with Kim Fields’ face). Andy Cohen brought up a picture of Brooke posing with Donald Trump, which caused her to cringe. Andy asked if Trump hit on Brooke when the picture was taken, she said no. But she did tell the tale of when Trump approached her later on in life with the purpose of wooing her.

According to Brooke, a just-divorced Trump called her while she was on the set of a movie and asked her out in an extremely greasy way.

“He called me right after he had gotten a divorce and said, ‘I really think we should date, because you’re America’s Sweetheart and I’m America’s richest man, and the people would love it.'”

America’s richest man? Fun fact: Trump’s company had already declared bankruptcy four times when he asked Brooke out.

Brooke says she turned Trump down by informing him that she had a boyfriend. This was post-Marla Maples, which would put the story around the later half of 1999. Brooke started dating her now-husband Chris Henchy that year.

Having a boyfriend on deck was a major lucky break for Brooke, but even if she didn’t, I doubt she would have said yes. Remember in 1999 how people were all convinced Y2K was going to end the world? That’s the excuse I would have used to get out of that date. “I’m sorry Donald, the computers might explode and kill us all, and honestly, watching you struggle chew an overdone steak isn’t how I want to spend any of my last days on Earth.”
