A Woman Who Got Kicked Off A Flight Because Of A Pet Allergy Didn’t Go Quietly

On a Southwest flight from Baltimore to Los Angeles on Tuesday, a woman complained that she’s deathly allergic to the dogs that were on the plane with her, and it ended with her being forcefully removed and facing a gang of offenses as the dogs onboard said to themselves, “Humans: ZERO, Dogs: All the points!”

According to the Los Angeles Times, what had happened was:

46-year-old college professor who complained of life-threatening allergies was arrested Tuesday after being forcibly removed from a Southwest Airlines flight that was bound for Los Angeles and carried dogs in the cabin.

One of the dogs was a registered ESA (emotional support animal) and the other was a pet. The woman, Anila Daulatzai, asked that the dogs be removed from the flight but instead Southwest decided to boot her instead, not wanting to risk her dying mid-air.

(SW spokesperson) Mainz said the woman was unable to provide the medical certificate necessary to continue with the flight. He said she demanded an EpiPen and was uncooperative. “We do not have or administer shots,” he said.

Southwest is pretty pet friendly and, according to the LA Times, their official policy is that if a person reports having severe allergies they will seat them as far away from the animal as possible IF they are notified at the departure gate. Since Anila didn’t say anything until she got on the plane and couldn’t provide medical documentation of her allergies, they decided it best she get off rather than the two other passengers and their pooches. To which Anila said HELLS TO THE NO, refused to leave and things got ugly.

Here’s the video:

In a people vs. pets debate I generally side with the pets because people are assholes. But I also know that many ESAs are bullshit. However, Anila may have played it wrong. I don’t care how in the right I think I am, if armed men tell me to get off a plane, you can bet imma hop up real quick and sashay away. I’m not getting shot, tasered or get filmed by a passenger who will upload it to the internet and make YouTube ad money from it. I would however scream I’LL SEE YOU IN COURT.

Anila faces the following charges: “disorderly conduct, failure to obey a reasonable and lawful order, disturbing the peace, obstructing and hindering a police officer and resisting arrest”. Not only that but now the whole world is now judging and mocking her for screaming “I’m a professor” as she got dragged off the plane. Not a cute look. I wish somebody had the wherewithal to film those dogs smiling and drooling with glee as this all went down. Sometimes pets can be assholes too.
