Mel B Is Dating A Beverly Hills Cop In Real Life

TMZ is reporting that Mel B, the scariest of spices, is dating a police officer in the Beverly Hills Police Department. Of course TMZ being TMZ, they have to be all extra in their reporting so they’re leaning in on the “life imitates art” angle, because she used to be with Eddie Murphy.

TMZ reports:

Mel B is either smitten or paying homage to baby daddy Eddie Murphy, because she’s dating the guy he played in one of his iconic movies … a Beverly Hills cop.

Sources in the know tell us she’s been seeing a guy on the Beverly Hills PD for a few months. She’s moved at lightening speed … splitting with husband Stephen only months before she started dating the officer.

What TMZ fails to mention is that Mel’s ex, Eddie, was not really a Beverly Hills Cop in that movie. Everybody knows Axel Foley was from Detroit and was actually the antithesis of a typical BHC. Mel’s new cop friend is more likely to be Judge Reinhold taking a banana to the tailpipe type than anyone remotely resembling Axel F. Even so, a Reinhold-type is a huge improvement over her greedy shitbag ex Stephen Belafonte and I’m happy for any joy coming Mel. B’s way. TMZ says:

This is a little eerie. Our sources say one of the reasons she likes him around so much is that he carries a gun, and she’s scared of estranged hubby Stephen Belafonte. TMZ broke the story, Mel B has a restraining order against Belafonte, and one of her concerns is that she says he has a gun he’s not allowed to possess because of a prior crime.

Yikes. That is a scary thought. I hope her boy in blue is more intimidating than Barney Fife, but not quite as crazy as Alonso from Training Day. You never really know with cops. TMZ says the two are keeping it “low key” for the time being, and that although his life is “complicated,” he’s still taken the time to come to see Mel at work. He has also gone with her to some parties and stuff. Sounds like Mel’s got the BHC, now all she needs is a Serge to make her an espresso with a little twist of lemon and she’s golden.
